Today, after 10 minutes of the game the child across the table from my Son jumped up and threw a bottle of water at him. He busted my Son's nose and broke his glasses. My son (normally a passive person) pushed the table aside and hit the child that attacked him.
My Son has now been suspended from School for two weeks and many other punishments (Court, fines etc..,etc..) nothing happened to the other child. I was told by the School Officials that even though they have Witnesses confirming my Son's story they can do nothing about the other child because they did not See it!!

I am Proud of my Son and would have done the same thing, as an Adult! School policy says he should not have fought back.
He should have let his nose bleed all over the place and find a Teacher to report it to.
I know School Policies are to be respected and followed but shouldn't the other child have received some kind of punishment??
Why did he get away with the initial attack (Witnesses, remember)?

The "Teacher in Attendace" saw my Son hit the child (because He turned to the sound of the fighting).
I intend to face the Officials at the meeting Thursday morning and ask this same question.
My Son is like Me. We have a long fuse and will let most things go. When somebody pushes us over the line of "Turn The Other Cheek" you had better back off or get your Butt worked over.
My Son is a small person (size wise) but he took on a Jr. in HS (my Son is a Freshman) twice his size,if not 3 times his size and made the guy run!
I guess I really wanted to vent and appreciate all of the responses!!

This is a perfect example of political correctness and sensitiiiiivity training going waaaaay too far!

Go up the ladder to the Superintendent, and in the meantime, give your kid props and get him into a martial arts class so he can really beat the snot out of someone who starts a fight with him!

That's weird. I'm not sure why the other kid wasn't punished. That's just ridiculous.
School rules are sometimes unfair. I recieved In School Suspension for not attending a detention. The detention slip I was given didn't have a date on it. I had no idea when to serve it! But I'm STILL getting ISS

I think your son was right. It was self defense. If I were you, I'd do some more arguing! Suspension goes on his record and isn't something to be taken lightly!
