Tell me something that you have done in your lifetime in which you had to sacrifice something. Or even a movie in which you watched that displayed sacrifice.

when my parents got divorced i started to live with my mom, and a year later my dad married someone. she was a total b*tch and i hated her, and my dad started to act like her. just this year they had twins and it got to a point where my dad wouldnt call for five months, no email, nothing. i couldnt stand that i might be losing him, so i got therapist help, adn she gave me lots of ways to try and talk to him. The next time i saw my dad, i tried, but eventually realized that even though he was still me dad, we had both changed so much i would never have what i once did with him. i lost my best friend

Some people think it's a sacrifice, some others that it's an stupidity. I think it's a fair price to pay: I'm a professional Engineer who decided to leave a promising career for being a stay at home mother of 2 with a third one on the way. I loved what I did at work, but having the opportunity of being with my children, teaching them, helping them and seeing them grow full time without missing a thing is the hardest but worthiest thing I have made in my life.
I hope I can go back to work when they are older, but these years off work will have its consequences.

If you want a story of sacrifice, try making one of your own. I would suggest donating something that you value dearest to charity. As for other answers, I think that maybe Walden would be a good book for you to read if this is a homework assignment.
Sacrifice is about giving up something you want, not something you need. If you eat much, fast; if you live in a huge apartment or house, try finding something smaller; if you have a great wardrobe, give some up. Other activities that derive food, clothing, or shelter are also necessary. Work is necessary, and so is saving for tomorrow.

I'm not sure if you would consider this a sacrifice but it was to me. My dad became very ill and spent 4 months in the hospital. When he was discharged we moved him into my sisters home and my sister and I took care of him. (He had a trache and an emergency vent if we needed it.) He was sent home to die. He had told us his wishes that he never wanted to go back on the vent again. Well, we had to sacrifice our need of wanting him to be with us longer and let him go when we were told that he had to go back on the vent full time and would never come off. This was his wishes and even though we wanted to put him back on it so he would still be with us we realized that it was selfish of us and we had to follow his wishes and let him go. He was only 53 years old! It was a major sacrifice for us!

Any movie is about some kinda of sacrifice.

I like the Fast and the Furious though. The cop sacrificed his career, to give a guy he'd come to know and respect, who trusted him, who'd taken him into his 'family', his freedom.

The new Willy Wonka movie with Johnny Depp. Charlie sacrificed the chance to own a chocolate factory because he loved his family more.

In books, in movies, in life you give up something...no matter how small to someone else. You give up your place in line to go to the bathroom to someone else...or you give your pudding cup to your best friend even though you really wanted it, because they didn't get anything. You give the car trying to get out of the parking lot space because they've been sitting there forever waiting to get out.

You need to read The Giving Tree. It's the saddest book in the world and it's all about sacrifice.

I sacrificed a love for the betterment of his children. I didn't know he had children, or an ex-wife. But when they came in the picture, I saw that she still loved him. And even though he didn't want to admit it, he did too. They've been happily married for five years now.
