Unfortunately, banning food advertisement to children will not hinder the rising rate of obesity in this country. It happens to be something the parents/adults in that household control - not having the availability of foods that add senseless calories and bulk to those children's bodies is the start. Feeding kids real nutritional meals, not fast foods, is key. Adults have to start teaching children how to eat - that's how it begins. Before the start of fast food, children exercised and ate meals with substance (not so much fat). When fast foods emerged, it was the "quick-pick-me-up" and became a nasty little habit which grew into fat little bodies. Children are becoming faster because of lazy parents.

When my children were little, we did not indulge in McD's or other fast food places as often as kids do now. We went there to get the toy as a treat and I made sure this was once a month, not once a day. The boys enjoyed it as a treat but enjoyed cooking fun meals at home. To this day, my boys remain active and none of them are fat, though they do frequent McD's at times. :)

Parents today need to manage their child's diet and teach them the basic food principals so that they have healthy appetites, which will help them to grow up with less medical problems. Also, the schools have taken away a lot of physical programs, so parents will have to implement that and take those kids to parks to walk them, run them, let them ride their bikes, etc. Get them away from those game stations and that television set!
