Doctors(at hospital) would say "You need surgery." or "You need operation"?

Which is right(or normal)?

Or are there any differences?

"grazie, per la tua lettera e per i bei pensieri che scrivi!"
I basically get it but i am very particular when it comes to what it means exactly. ☺

I'm not a native speaker. So I feel embarrasing when I come across the words I've never heard of.

"People often say that they're stuck in the rack race."
In this sentence I don't understand the meaning of 'rack race'.
and I'm not sure "rack race" is right expression because i dictated it after I heard a DJ in radio saying to listeners.

There are just two things that I know.
1. It is a sort of mentality
2. It sets you up to be frightened, impatient and annoyed by constantly.

I am just wondering how being bilingual helps you on your daily life, such as at work, school and general life.
Please tell us your experience and what languages you speak.

my parents say that next summer i can go study German in Europe. but i have no clue the best and the worst of language programs, there are no site reviewing them and each one looks good on there own site, so if you've ever studied abroad and enjoyed it, and learned a lot, tell me who you went through

I've wanted to get a tattoo for a really long time now and since I'm about to go off to college I figured it was the perfect time. I've been a dancer my whole life so I want to get "Dance Like No One Is Watching" in Latin on my stomach. I was wondering if anyone knew a translation for that in Latin. Maybe German too because I'm german. Thanks!

Who learns them how to understand English so good?

If their so good, then why do they say "aboot" and "ay"?

I been to Toronto and I didn't hear anything different than us.

They definately say "ay" a lot.

Anyway, American English is usefuller than any other language, and it's Made in U.S.A.!
