Spanish would be the easiest because the words are spelled exactly the way they sound. As someone noted, it would be the stepping stone to other languages like Italian, French and Portuguese.

German, on the other hand, is more difficult to learn, especially as an adult with English as your native tongue. The pronunciation is difficult and the spelling is as well since we have a funny way of spelling things (like "ph" is an "f" sound).

Also, children are more likely to pick up a language because their minds are still developing. Children have a "genetic propensity to learn language".

It really depends. If you speak absolutely no language then I have no idea. However since you speak English, the 2 next easiest languages to learn would be French and German in that order. While English does have many other languages incorporated into it, it mostly is made up of French and German with there being just a little more French.

Easiest foreign language is Spanish, but it's also the most uninteresting. German, Japanese, and Korean are pretty good to learn, in terms of challenge.

Spanish, you'll have it down in 300 hours of study.

With fluency in Spanish, you'll learn the other Romance languages easy-squeesy (Italian, French, Portugeese).

German shouldn't be too hard either.

The hardest languages for someone who only speaks English are probably Japanese, Persian, and Hindi, due to the outright BACKWARDS grammar compared to English.

Spanish is easy. A lot of English comes from Latin words as well.

I would look at German first, if you have a choice. The pronunciation is fairly easy for an English speaker.

Spanish. It's also the most useful, too.
