I've read the KJV for about 20 years and am familiar with the outdated communication style, but frankly, I want to read it in a simple, literal, clear language. I want to free the powers of my mind from the work of deciphering the archaic manner of speech and expression, and from contextual and cultural re-construction, so that I can focus completely on the task of ideological evaluation.

I want to read something which follows modern modes of expression, but simultanseously maintains complete integrity with the literal meanings of the ancient texts. I am NOT interested in any undocumented interpretation or simplification of the ideas within the text (lest meaning be lost or changed). I am interested in a word-by-word or phrase-by-phrase translation with the inline inclusion of alternate translations. I want to easily read, understand, and consider the ideas within the correct context.

Bonus question: Suggestions for best english translations of the apocrypha, or of the Koran?

I am currently studying Italian. I've been learning on my own right now (saving money) for my trip to Venice. I will be taking advanced lessons in a classroom environment this summer. The problem is, I inquired about the course, and they do not teach slang. Being from the Northeast US, I know that slang is quite important. Does anyone know of any good computer programs, dvds, cds, etc. to learn this info? I've been looking and I have had no luck (except for mafia movies...lol).

We're moving and I want to label some of the boxes in Spanish so that the mover's can easily read them and make their job easier (usually only one of the movers can speak English, which is fine because we don't need to have a lengthy philosophical discussion lol).

But I'm having problems translating into Spanish the following phrases because I don't know sentence structure very well:

Very Heavy, Do not attempt to lift

Fragile

Do not stack, very fragile

Do not move this box, leave for owner

Thanks, I really appreciate your help!

I always thought translator would translate LITERALLY, and interpreter would make the translation more adapt for the laguage he is translating in, but maybe it has something to do with doing it orally or in written form?

Mmm. I was asked to translate this from Arabic to English but my English is not that good. I would appreciate it if you help me rephrase this in formal English. Feel free to rewrite or correct the sentences. I am feeling so dumb at the moment and I think that this paragraph that I have translated stinks:

Development of Special Education in Egypt

Introduction:
Educational and pedagogical care plays an essential role in preparing the visually impaired for life in the society. This is done in order for them to achieve maximum benefit of their potential and their abilities. Taking into consideration the fact that the abilities of the visually impaired do not allow them to benefit from the same pedagogical activities that are presented to his/her mates in ordinary ways, it became necessary to provide some kind of specialized educational services customized to serve the needs of the visually impaired. Hence, exists the need to establish the Visual Education schools.
