With the UK having so many different cultures residing here do you think its time to rename Christmas so everyone can join in & celebrate together without causing offence
Maybe this could stop racism if we celebrate as one .
Also it may stop all the waste, hype and over spending that this time of year brings .

What do you usually have to eat at your Thanksgiving Day table? I am just wondering what other people have..(including dessert) We have:

turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, gravy, scalloped corn, Harvard beets(my grandmother's recipe), turnip, butternut squash, green beans ( NOT the casserole!!!!!), homemade applesauce, cranberry sauce, various homemade pickles and homemade rolls.

For dessert, we have: Cranberry orange bread, date nut bread, Pumpkin pie, apple pie, mince pie, and our traditional Butternut Cake (my great-great grandfathers recipe) All desserts are also homemade.

One last thing: As you sit down to your meal...think about this...What are you most thankful for?

Does anyone know a good place to buy a Christmas Nativity set or even a village? This is my first Christmas with my husband in our new house and that's the only decoration I'm missing. I've searched online but I'm not getting what I'm looking for. Websites are appreciated! Thank you!

I couldn't believe that some Muslims would encourage this Sister to carry on an illicit relationship with an ex-lover WHILE HER HUSBAND IS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!

In a Muslim school, every day the pupils pray Zuhur. Before Salaat the Adhan is heard all around the school. However some of the non Muslim teachers there have been complaining about it and now the volume has been reduced so much that you can barely hear it. Bearing in mind this is a MUSLIM school, do you think this was a fair thing to do? Personally I think not. It is a Muslim school designed for Muslim pupils to receive an education and worship at the same time. If the non Muslims don't like hearing the Adhan it makes me wonder why they are even working there - they should leave and go elsewhere.

Money is tight this year for us all. 2 people lost their jobs.

Instead of giving gifts I'm looking for an inexpensive idea that we can turn into a new family tradition.

For example one person said give Christmas ornaments for the tree to each other. Or one friend doesn't trade gifts with her family, they just Christmas stockings.

Hi everyone. I am starting to think about Christmas lights. I have had lights indoors for many years but would like to put some up outside this year! I have a plug inside my letter box so was thinking I could easily plug some in there and let the cable come out through the letter box slit. Someone mentioned though that I'd need a transformer as well. I don't know anything about this. I thought I'd just buy the lights that say something like "suitable for outdoor use" (in Dutch though as I'm in Holland) on the box and plug them straight in! If anyone could advise on this I'd be most grateful!
