In a Muslim school, every day the pupils pray Zuhur. Before Salaat the Adhan is heard all around the school. However some of the non Muslim teachers there have been complaining about it and now the volume has been reduced so much that you can barely hear it. Bearing in mind this is a MUSLIM school, do you think this was a fair thing to do? Personally I think not. It is a Muslim school designed for Muslim pupils to receive an education and worship at the same time. If the non Muslims don't like hearing the Adhan it makes me wonder why they are even working there - they should leave and go elsewhere.

i TOTALLY agree with you, The Adhan is part of Islam and belongs in a Muslim school more than non-Muslim teachers do.

Dreena - that's exactly what I mean. The parents chose to send them to this school because it's an Islamic school. But now they are making adjustments to better suit the non Muslims. Very unfair.

That is so rediculous, I am shocked and appaled. If the majority of the students are muslims, I hope the parents would make a petition and stand up to the school. If I was the adminstration, I would have told them that if you do not like it leave. There are others who want to have a job and frankly, they are replacable.
This is not an issue over which they have right.

Thank for standing up and do the jihad. My kids go to a Muslim school and in that school there are many Christian and Hindu teachers but they are told to adjust them self according to the schools polices. In the school my kids are been thought everything in Islamic way in the morning during the assembly all the kids have to recite kalma (I hope the spelling is right) no mater which religion he follows. It was their parents choice to send them to a Muslim school so let them follow our teachings. I will say that the management of the school is very poor and they do not fear Allah, somebody who fears Allah would not give up the praise of Allah because they do not like the Adhan. May Allah guide them to the right path and show them the way out (Ameen). It doesn't matter how much people fight against Islam we are lastly the winner nobody will be able to wipe out Islam Inshallah.

NO, I don't think that's fair at all. If they don't like it, they should not be working there. The Adhan is part of Islam and belongs in a Muslim school more than non-Muslim teachers do. I am not Christian but I do not complain when I hear church bells ringing and I certainly did not complain when I needed to have surgery in a Catholic hospital and they did prayers over the intercom.

That would be the same as a Catholic school not ringing it's bells - or trying to ring them softly. I agree with you 100%.

The Adhan is an important part of Islam. It should "rock" the school!

no that was not a fair thing. what they should realize is that they are teaching at a Muslim school, and even if the Adhan is loud they should deal with it. they dont control us. if they have a problem with it then why dont they just quit their job. its a Muslim school. they shouldnt be complaining about our religious beliefs. i agree with you they should deal with the Adhan being loud. why are they even working there if they have a problem with hearing the Adhan!

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.

Insha'Allah, if one attends a Catholic school, one is required to recite the rosary and attend mass each day ( or so it was when I was young enough to be so enrolled... a long, long, long time hence).

Insha'Allah, it is my understanding that there are similar practices in most Protestant schools.

Insha'Allah, if one attends a yeshiva (Jewish school), they not only pray but also learn Hebrew, read the Torah, etc.

If the non-Muslim employees of the school object to the practice of Islam by the Muslim students and staff of the same then they might need to necessarily be looking for another position in a school more to their liking or in accordance with their particular religious affiliation.

Insha'Allah, it is a school for Muslim children where they attend so as to study academics as well as their religion, which is Islam. I only wish that my daughter could attend (and myself as well!)

We live in a strange country where everyone wants to be "politically correct" to the exclusion of all common sense.

Ma'a salaam.

I agree, if this is a Muslim school and if it is traditional to say this prayer the school should not be changing for the non-muslim.Why are the teachers non-Muslim, how are they going to teach the spiritual teachings if they are not of the same teachings? I think who ever is in charge of the school should be notified by a lot of parents that they find the change inappropriate. That it is one of the reasons the parents have chosen to send them to that school.

That is completely disgusting! Where is this exactly? Is there anything else I could read about it? Is there some kind of petition?

That does not make any sense whatsoever! Why take the job if that is going to bother you so much? I mean really, it lasts like maybe 2 minutes!! If you can't handle it GET OUT!

i totally agree..i remember whn my sister was being operated on in a christian hospital, the choir groups used to sing hymns and devotional songs in the adjoining church..no one complained or said anything..keeping in mind the fact that it was a hospital, where silence is required, they went on with their worship, and i'm not complaining..so, adhan in schools are nothing compared to that, and must be expected when you work in a muslim school..what about children who go for prayers in catholic schools, thn?

Any way back to your question, it is not fair!!! I would personally have a word with the head to resolve this issue!
