My husband and I have been invited to my friends parents Thanksgiving Dinner. My friends told me I don't have to bring anything, however, I believe if you are invited somewhere you should bring something for the host. I would like to bring a bottle of wine, but I have no clue (and neither does my friend) what kind of wine they would like. Any idea?

How do you explain this without destroying the magic?

Christmas is just around the corner. In our house we purchase a new ornament each year to reflect the person. As the years go by, the collection grows. When our children leave, they take all their bobbles with them except one (to be left on the parents tree) so they can start their own. What do you do?

It's that time of year again and the weather in my part of the world is getting cold and dark. We curl up in front of our fireplace with big comforters and put on seasonal movies or read. What do you do?

Should I bring pie? Wine? Flowers? a DVD?

2006-11-21 18:46:02 · 6 answers · asked by Anthony 1 in Thanksgiving

While I understand that not everyone celebrates Christmas, I still tell people Merry Christmas. Not random people, but people I make contacnt with (ie. the bag boy who carries my items to the car, the teller in the check-out line, etc)

So here is my question. Do you tell people Merry Christmas? If you don't, what do you say? If you don't celebrate Christmas, do you get offended if someone wishes you a Merry Christmas? Should we say Happy Holidays instead? Should we say anything at all or treat it as just another day?

I'm not trying to push my religion onto others, I take saying "Merry Christmas" to others as wishing them the best during the Holiday season. If someone where to say to me "Happy Hanukkah" I'd reply "thank you, you too"

See what I mean? So what are your thoughts?

I am in charge of the vegetables for dinner on Thanksgiving. I have a recipe for green bean casserole, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for other vegetables to serve on Thursday.

Super succulent, crispyskinned thanksgiving turkey...?
How do I make a turkey that is SO succulent, moist, juicy, dripping with natural juices, all covered in a crispy, crunchy, flavorful skin? How do I get it so good that people sitting at the table take one bite and just look at eachother, then at me, in total awe and wonder of HOW I cooked such an AMAZING bird. I don't care if it takes forever to cook and if it sounds intricate or crazy. I want REAL suggestions and answers and I want to and am willing to try anything. I want a beautiful, succulent, juicy bird. I want as close to perfection I can possibly get. White meat tends to be so dry... I want to change that. PLEASE chefs and ANYONE else who is a pro at this, I am BEGGING for all the right answers! I have some of the best mashed taters and now I'm looking for this! I'm sure you've noticed my other plead for the pasta sausage stuffing, I just want people who come over to REALLY and truly enjoy themselves at my house. It just means everything in the world to me. Please help. Thanks.
