Guess your not a big fan of "Turkey Day". Well I cannot argue with the fact that as a whole our Nation is "obese". But speaking for myself I am definitely not nor is anyone in my family. We are actually abnormal and workout on a weekly basis and eat healthy all year round. Yes we make alot more food on Thanksgiving than normal but this is out of tradition. Our nation is not obese because of Thanksgiving trust me. If the holiday was changed to a day of fasting as you say I guarantee a mass of miraculously thin Americans will not begin to roam the streets. It's this American lifestyle that too many people follow full of TV dinners, Mc Donald's, Starbucks, & Stone Cold Ice Cream. Do I frequent all of those places, YES, but I consume proper portions. Is a venti necessary for every frappucino?? And must we biggie size every value meal?? And what about the "gotta have it" size at Cold Stone---That thing is insane I cannot believe people buy those and eat the entire thing on their own that is assonine.
I felt the need to celebrate your comment on our nation as an "obese" one but I still had to maintain that it's not Thanksgiving's fault. Leave the holiday alone, people need to take responsibility for their own bad eating habits & unhealthy ways of life.

I think a moderate Thanksgiving meal is alright, but I agree that over gorging yourself is not healthy. The holidays definitely do pack on a lot of pounds for people and create a false idea of what real meals should be like...people tend to eat for pleasure, no matter what day it is really. It is sad that we live in a country that takes it's food supply for granted.

Do you have a family? Thanksgiving is about family and friends. It is about opening our home to those less fortunate. It teaches our children to share and we have the opportunity to give the gift of love and laughter to family and friends. Enjoy the food, it is a part of the celebration of thanksgiving for our many, many blessings. There is a "grinch" that can steal Christmas. If the grinch steals Thanksgiving, we'll all be sad. How many can sit at your table and fast? No need to "gorge", just be moderate with joy.

Speak for yourself and I'll speak for mine... I'm not obese... and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I eat just a little bit more on this day than on other days... it's the junk food and candy that's MASS MARKETED in this culture and FAST FOOD, not yams, turkey, and stuffing, that makes the obese people obese.
Have a great holiday... if you fast maybe you could combine this with working at a soup kitchen for a few hours on Thursday.

the point right that's that Christians have a tendency to have a fat situation - Buddhists do not. I actually have by no ability had a fat Buddhist shove me out of ways in a mad sprint to the donut stand. it really is a Sunday morning fat Christian stunt. i pick chinese foodstuff too!! i pick a number of those steamed dumplings with the stuff in them. I had some leek ones that were out of this international some weeks in the past. ......and some plum sauce. presented please thanks.

Because we feel obligated to celebrate how we "Manifested Destiny" by killing off thousands of Native Americans. What other way for Americans to celebrate than by getting more fat?
I like your questions. I answer a lot of them because they're funny and insightful.
