While I understand that not everyone celebrates Christmas, I still tell people Merry Christmas. Not random people, but people I make contacnt with (ie. the bag boy who carries my items to the car, the teller in the check-out line, etc)
So here is my question. Do you tell people Merry Christmas? If you don't, what do you say? If you don't celebrate Christmas, do you get offended if someone wishes you a Merry Christmas? Should we say Happy Holidays instead? Should we say anything at all or treat it as just another day?
I'm not trying to push my religion onto others, I take saying "Merry Christmas" to others as wishing them the best during the Holiday season. If someone where to say to me "Happy Hanukkah" I'd reply "thank you, you too"
See what I mean? So what are your thoughts?

No i don't get offended. I usually say, to you to. But at the same time it does annoy me that out of all the people in the world my family is the worst. They just can't accept that I do not celebrate the Holidays.

I don't think it matters. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, they all mean the same message. But since everyone is so afriad they'll say Merry Christmas to a Jew by accident, you should just say Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to those you know and Happy Holidays to everyone else.

I understand where you are coming from. I never really knew what to say, so I myself always go for the "Happy Holidays" to be safe. That way I don't accidentally offend someone, not that I would be wanting to but I think for me it's the safest. With people that I know, I do say Merry Christmas unless I know for a fact they don't celebrate Christmas.

The only reason there is this fuss going on is because of Jewish people. They are very powerful and they volaclize and use their influence and everyone has to cave in? Christmas is about Christmas. If it offends Jews, that's their problem. We celebrate a Holy Day; we are not Jew bashing! If that's how they take it, then I suggest that it is they that hold great prejudice.
People, if you do not say Merry Christmas, don't celebrate it...you dishonor the Lord of heaven and I assure you, He will, in due season, dishonor you for lowering His Son.

I say Merry Christmas. If someone where to tell me Happy Hanukkah it wouldn't offend me I would just assume that was their religion of choice so I would think that I am not offending anyone.

I say what ever comes to mind first, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Chanukah. It also depends on what the other persons religion is. If they are Jewish I don't think wishing them a merry Christmas is appropriate.

You should say whatever makes you happy. I wouldn't worry about people being offended. Most everyone knows that your'e wishing them well reguardless of their personal beliefs. Most of them get a couple days off for it being Christmas. Do you see them being offended at that? If non Christian groups had their own holiday would you be offended if they wished you a happy Chinese New Year?
