If its just going to be you and your wife why not suggest she cook something else? Theres no rule that says you have to have turkey and all the trimmings on Thanksgiving.

Its only me and my son, who doesn't care if we have turkey or not so alot of times I cook something special - lasagna or a small ham (he loves ham). When I do cook turkey or ham, I only cook the side dishes I know we are going to eat or that I feel like messing with.

Your wife might really enjoy cooking a big Thanksgiving meal or she's grown up in a home where it was expected that you eat turkey and all the trimmings on Thanksgiving no matter what.

I get you. I like to simplify family get togethers and "traditions" by not having many. What I do on the holidays changes every year. I think the only thing that matters is that your happy and glad to be with who your with.

Pizza, Turkey, One year the road got closed and I ended up sleeping in the car and eating a burrito for dinner.

In my family, we always eat turkey sandwhiches. We are a family that likes simple. We are not afraid to say "to h*ll with tradition" if the traditions take away from the reason for having holidays- to relax.

Good luck with that. Maybe you should just tell her you love her and you are grateful to be married to her. Tell her that the perfect holiday for you would be her watching her favorite movie, soaking in a bubble bath, or whatever she likes to do. Maybe she just needs your affirmation that you will love her even if your holiday doesn't fit the traditions.

Hey if you want to earn points as a GREAT HUSBAND...help her in the kitchen, or offer to take her out to eat at a nice restuarant that will be open. Put your wants on the back burner...video the ball game.

I feel your pain.

Christmas should be just about as much fun too, right?

Buy her some flowers and say thanks.

In January float the idea of an alternative way to celbrate the holidays...it's too late now to get her to change gears.

Denny's is open too as are some truck stops and then you can take a doggie bag home for the games...I wouldn't object, I hate cooking.
