Almost ever person I meet for the first time, will ask me "Where are you from? Then, they tell me I have an accent. If I answer," I am from here. LA and a California native", they ask "I mean originally". Then I repeat what I just said. They still don't believe me. Other times, I have fibbed and answered either , "England, Canada, Boston or New York" Then, they believe me. I have a hearing loss. Does that have something to do with it? What should I say next time? It is getting to the point that I don't like meeting new people anymore. Please help.

I am a very casual dresser and live in blue jeans and tee shirts. The dressiest I get is dress slacks and blouse or sweater. I don't own a purse, and can't wear high heels because of bad feet and trick ankles. Now I have to go to a funeral for the brother of my husband's aunt.

My husband plans to wear a suit and tie. All the woman on his side of the family really dress up for weddings and funerals. He doesn't care what I wear but I will feel really out of place if I'm the only woman with slacks. Yet if I go out shopping for a dress, shoes and purse I will feel very awkward wearing something I am not used too. Also it will be a waste of money since I won't wear these things again. I don't even know what is in style or if I should wear black or what? Any suggestions on where to go shopping or what I could wear that would be proper?

there are some women in my company, always like talking about their families. babies or boyfriends. It was ok with me for first couple fo times, But soon I found out this issue seemed the only topic they wished to make. I mean no matter when where and whom, once they have a chance. hell, no, there came a conference for bunch of momies.
I don't judge them only if I don't hear them, But mostly the work tie us together, like we have a meeting with one of the people, and during the break they tell you what was new yesterday, the baby dropped her barbie, the baby learned a new song, the baby threw out.....etc, which bored me to death, but no place to run.
I don't criticise those parents and I know deeply they may be proud of their children, I just hope they go to someone who would like to share. not to the one who is single and not have a baby.
and one more thing they go too far, I just need them shut their mouth in front of guys when they focus about breastfeeding.

My boyfriend was overwhelmed working for a major corporation. He NEVER calls in sick – but after working all night long LITRALLY – he called in on Friday and told the President the load was a bit large. He went in rested on Monday and worked.
Monday evening he cooked fish and got food poisoning. Not knowing if his honest excuse would be believable he took a picture of his puke and e-mailed it with his request for the day off. He is the most reserved, professional person I’ve ever met. I am a bit shocked he did it. Does anyone see the positive in his move to shoot/send/and share his puke?

Okay, Yoga was finishing up, & some were still meditating. The woman next to me (leaving early) started to roll up her mate, and in doing so she acidently was squatting over a man's face .... ((( Bahhh-haaaaa ))) .... (I was so near exploding with giggles) ... OMG ... Who would have thought someone could accidently sit on someones face!!!

Anyway's is there a nice way to warn her about her upcoming disaster in this situation??? I saw it coming in slow motion, but didn't know what to say.

And if you can't put your references on the resume, do you bring a seperate sheet for the references? Should you just not give them the references unless they ask? Should the reference page be printed on the same paper as the resume, or just plain white paper? HELP!! my interview is tomorrow...

I'm graduating high school and people are starting to ask me what I'd like as a gift. My natural response is money because I can't think of anything else that'd be appropriate, considering it isn't christmas or my birthday. I need more ideas about what to ask for. Got any ideas?

Just curious. I am tempted to ask a friend about a rumor, but since she talks like there is nothing wrong-I don't want to piss her off. I think I should just wait and see. What do you think?..

Please dear people: I would like to know besides the dictionary definition is gossip a truth, a lie, truth&part lie, or just plain gossip any old way.

And if one gossips constantly, are they focusing on their own lives, and ever gossip about themselves?

and I need opinions on if the few dresses i have are appropriate. The weddings are all afternoon weddings, with no attire specified (of course). None of the dresses are the color in the wedding. I will also have to wear a shawl as the weddings in a church. I have posted them in the colors i have, please take a look.

He is a friend of my husbands that will not take any money from us. We know him well as a neighbor but not on a level to know what he is into or what would be a good gift. He is into motorcycle riding and he is a very dedicated father...Thats about all that I can say and that really doesn't help finding a good gift to give.....

I don't want to be pushy, rude, or cold. I don't want to wreck anyone's day or kill the goodwill vibe. I am just not in favor of these philosophies, but if I am nice about it, they keep pushing and pushing until I have to be rude to shut them down. Any suggestions?
