You don't mention whether the invitation stipulates a certain 'standard' of dress (e.g., casual, formal, etc) ~ it is helpful if they do because it gives you some kind of place to start!

If you are in the northern hemisphere it will be summer, so anything light and pretty will be suitable, and pastel or vibrant colours would be very acceptable, as it makes a lovely show, especially for an outdoors event.

For a more formal or evening wedding and reception, you could wear a frock or outfit of good quality, with good quality shoes. If the outfit has a little coat or jacket you could wear that to the wedding and then remove it for the reception, so you can have a slightly different 'look' without having to worry about two outfits (I never do, but I know some people find this a concern).

Generally, I find I'm more comfortable at formal affairs with darker colours and better quality outfits, whereas at informal events, pretty colours and lightweight fabrics are just fine.

And, although wedding etiquette is a lot more relaxed these days, it is a nice courtesy to the bride to avoid wearing the colours she and the bridesmaids will be wearing, if you can. You can always ask her (or her mum) if she is having a 'theme' colour, and then avoid white, cream or the theme colour in your selection.

Whatever you wear normally, but dressier is a good standard for most occasions, because you have to feel comfortable as well as look good!

It's generally more comfortable to feel a little overdresed than to be underdressed for the occasion, so even if the invitation says 'casual' it's a bit of a trap to arrive in beachwear!

Hope you have a great time! Best wishes :-)

Never wear white to a wedding because it is considered upstaging the bride (who of course will be wearing a white gown, and it's her day!)

It will most likely be warm in the month of June, so I'd suggest a nice sleeveless dress with maybe a shawl or short sweater to go along with it. Bring two pairs of shoes. One to match the outfit, and one pair just to dance in!

Check what the chosen colors are for the wedding, and maybe you can purchase a dress to match those colors. This is especially common if you are part of the immediate family.

If it's a very formal evening wedding, then you would want to select an appropriate dress with a length not too short, (especially if you are attending a ceremony in a church). Wear nice jewelry (costume jewelry is great!). The accessories can add a lot.

If it's a daytime wedding, let's say at a park or club house, it may be more of a casual setting, so that's where the nice spring dress would work nicely.

Enjoy the day!

What size do you wear? Summer halter top dresses are in fashion. The dress would do great at both wedding and reception.
