Please dear people: I would like to know besides the dictionary definition is gossip a truth, a lie, truth&part lie, or just plain gossip any old way.

And if one gossips constantly, are they focusing on their own lives, and ever gossip about themselves?

WOULD YOU EVER TRUST A GOSSIPER? OR WOULD YOU AVOID THEM?

Gossip is a story about someone else that is being told to other people. Gossip is not always the truth or not the whole truth because often it is repeated several times with small variations changing each time until the end result is not longer even close to the truth.

I do not think you can assume gossip is either true or a lie. It can, and has been, both.

The best thing when faced with some gossip is to either ignore it or go to the source for confirmation and the complete truth.

If someone gossips constantly, they likely have nothing interesting going on in their own lives and need to concentrate instead on the lives of others.

Most people gossip to some small degree, just as a social interaction. Most is also harmless. Most have their own lives to concern themselves with. It is when gossip becomes malicious with secrets being revealed and lies being told that it can be really damaging.

I always assumed gossip was the truth, just something that was not really anyone's business. A lie is just a lie, not gossip. If one talks about someone and lies, that is slander.
