The problem is I am taking a class at night. A girl in my same class sits by me to use my book every single night. It seems the professor has told her not to bother getting one of her own so she pulls her desk over to mine every single night. It is getting old. Would it be too rude to sit at another desk? At first I didn't mind and I told her it was fine, but now I am getting tired of having someone so near to me. Her breath is getting increasingly worse. I have given her gum, but she still is too close for comfort.

My former neighbor passed away yesterday. She was 48 and has left two daughters and a husband. We never were really close, but we'd wave and say hi when we saw each other. I used to babysit the oldest girl when she was little.

This woman was just the sweetest person and she was always happy and friendly. She'd do anything for you.

I want to send a note but I dont know what to say. What do people want to hear? There is obviously nothing you can say or do to make them feel better. I dont know what to do. :(

I work for the government and have just been promoted to a new position within my agency. I now have entirely new duties that I will have to be trained for, a new boss, and most of my coworkers work in a different building, however for the time being I am staying where I am. My old building was super casual. I wear jeans and polo shirts 5 days a week. The people who work across the street at my new job wear button up shirts, polo shirts and the women wear pants suits and dresses. A couple of guys (including the boss) had on ties. I of course am going to lose the jeans and my new boss said what I had on was otherwise fine and I shouldn't have to change too much. I am thinking of wearing a button up shirt and a tie a few days a week though. I feel more professional doing that, but I'm afraid if I do it right at the start it will be viewed as brown nosing. Also anytime I have worn a tie in my old building I felt horribly out of place, due to everyone else being so casual.

At my husband's work Christmas party, I invited one of the young women in his office to sit at our table because her date was working late. She has apparently taken a liking to me. At first she just spent a few minutes talking to me on the phone when I called my husband. Then she moved on to calling me. Then she started dropping by our house to visit every once in a while, as she only lives a few blocks away. Now she comes by every few days. She has shown up at our doorstep with uncooked steaks, salad and rolls, and invited herself to dinner. She buys me expensive gifts (the newest one being the entire OPI Spring collection). I have tried talking to her about our age difference (20 years) and the fact that we don't have much in common. She agrees with me, and stays away a few days, but she always comes back. Recently, she has begun to tell her co-workers that she and I are best friends. How do I politely make it clear to her that I would like her to leave me alone?

A woman at work always has hickeys all over her neck. She got a divorce 6 mos ago and when she was married she was always covered in hickeys and now that she's single and dating she still has hickeys everywhere. Co-workers are always making comments to her and tell her that it looks really bad and unprofessional but she tells people to mind their own business.
Is it their business since, as an employee, she's representing the company, or should they mind their business?

I'm not talking about English-as-a-second-language. I find it troubling that English is becoming a complete impediment to understand.

More specifically, why do they use them even when there are private urinals available, even single solitary urinals, and then proceed to urinate all over the seat of the toilet, and I mean ALL over it, hardly getting any in the bowl? I asked someone once and he thought I was crazy. "I'm not going to touch that toilet seat to lift it up!" he shouted. But it's so easy to lift it up with the edge of your shoe.
