Well, for the one who stole it...just return it. It isn't yours, and it isn't right...that goes for everyone who has taken something that doesn't belong to you.

For the ones looking for the stolen bike if it has been painted and relettered it will not look the same. That would take a lot of effort because without knowing where and what the serial number is of the bike is, they could just ride the bike around and almost not get in trouble.
If it is an expensive bike, like a pro bike, you should have pictures to ID it and if you suspect who has taken it, file a stolen property report with the local police and possibly your insurance company and then file a complaint.

Take the tires off and have the frame repainted really well, then put the tires back on. (No spray cans......pay for a really GOOD job. My husband would do it for about $50, he owns a body shop) But by the time you do that, you could have paid for the bike anyway. So why take something that isn't yours? Someone may have worked very hard to buy that bike, and you don't know how much it may mean to them. You have no right to go take something that isn't yours. Go return the bike in the middle of the night and they'll never know who did it. Better yet, return it in even better condition than you found it in. Replace a few things, and they'll be appreciative and even less likely to get you in trouble if they should happen to find out it was you.

It takes a lot of guts to steal a bike, but it takes even more to return it. Give back the bike. You may not like the idea, but trust me: It'll feel good to earn the bike yourself. Not saying you stole it, but whoever stole it should hear me out.

Give it a new paint job, buy a new seat, some new wheels and realize somewhere in the process that you could've spent less money for your own (not stolen!) NEW bike!

You are the one who stole it. Take it to the cops and turn yourself in. Man, could you be a little MORE suspicious about this????
