If the food can walk around your fridge by itself then don't eat it!

I sometimes eat left overs. How long it's safe to keep them depends on what kind of food it is.

If there are eggs in it I keep it in the refrigerator for 24 hours at most, after that I'm not sure if it's safe to eat it. Many other foods are safe to keep for a few days in the refrigerator. Just smell it and look carefully at it before you eat it. If it either smells or looks strange, it's better to play safe and throw it away.

Most foods don't taste nice after a few days though. I prefer eating everything within day and a half after it's made or I throw it away. If I need to keep something for a few days or longer I put it in the freezer.

Leftovers are fine if they've been tightly wrapped/covered and well chilled, then thoroughly reheated.

Chicken, seafood and anything containing mayonnaise should be eaten within 24 hours maximum. Other foods will last a little longer.

Many leftovers can be packaged into meals for one or more people, then frozen for later use.

Any leftovers in my house will be eaten within 1-2 days, anything more gets tossed or turns into a new science project.

Leftovers are fine as long as they are used within 3 days. Even in the cold air, bacteria can grow and make a person sick.

I eat leftovers all the time. I throw them out when they start to move about on their own. I've had some mighty battles trying to get some of that thrown out.
