It's definately possible, and I have seen it happen to some friends of mine. When we travel, we experience new and exciting things. Sometimes we meet someone who interests us, and we tend to see them as the reason we are feeling so great, even though many times it is just the new experiences and not that particular person. I know the old saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder," but that is not always the case. There is also a saying just as old,"out of sight, out of mind (and heart)." If this man comes back home, he may realize that his true love is this girl he was in love with. But if I were her, I would move on and find someone who is willing to put me and my needs first, and preferably stick around.
