I have wondered the same thing. For example, Chris Rock really slams white people in his comedy show, but a white person similarly insulting a black person--he would be run out of the country as a "racist" and a "bigot."

Unfortunately, though we've made great strides in equality, there are still double-standards on both sides of the race coin.

Unity is almost like seeking Utopia.
No matter how hard everyone tries to create unity someone, somewhere will not be unified.
Comedians, both black and white, poke fun at the problem because it is a way to stop stressing over the fact there isn't a way to make everyone love each other, no matter black or white, and to those who know how stupid it is for race to be such a big problem..it gives them a laugh.

Even if we were unified on black and white, something else would be wrong, democrate/republican, young/old, rich/poor, educated/uneducated.

Learn to love, learn to laugh, and learn to have hope.

That's what comedy is, meant to be funny. If you are looking for unity, find it in other sources besides comedy. Plus, if you look at the history, whites have used far more insults (comedy)aimed at blacks. And the person who just mentioned that blacks don't want equality because they would lose all the perks..that is really funny. What perks? Being denied housing, jobs and other things because the color of the skin. They need to get a grip and a clue.

Whites!

Those of you who mentioned Chris Rock are WAAAAY off! He loves to tease Black folks! Your ears obviously got clogged after you heard the White joke! Waaaahh!!!

It's on both sides of the coin. Seeking unity in comedy? No. It's all for fun and laughs.

Insults are funny...that's why comedians use them, and what's a better way to unite than by laughing at each other??

I have to admit that I find these kinds of jokes really funny...however they create a double standard, unfortunately, proving that our society has a long way to go before we are all operating on the same playing level.

I don't think insulting anybody whether they are black, red, blue or purple is right at all, much less to get a laugh.

It's not okay for anyone to insult others not matter what race either are.
