A good time was had by all.
Last night we went to New Orleans and actually participated in the parade. What a wild night.
I have pictures, if anyone is interested, I'm sure some of them are fit as eye candy. If I can get my husband to down load them, would anyone care to see them?

I like to go on to Seniors to read and answer some interesting questions. I think I am going to read something interesting and all I get is a joke! I am not being a grumpy old bag but if I wanted jokes and riddles....Yes you've guessed it,I would go onto jokes and riddles.
Sorry to all of you who have put Jokes on here, I know they are very funny but can we have some proper questions?

Where are you?
What kind of bike did you ride as a child?
What is the email address of your local police department?
Who is your service provider?
Do you bank online?
Would you email my friend at this address & wish them a happy birthday?
What type of soft are you currently using?

Sounds harmless until you see them in a list.

If you have ever answered questions like these , then you are not alone.

I ask you...ARE THESE SAFE to answer when hackers are everywhere & most seniors are using old systems?

Five surgeons are discussing who makes the best patients on the operating table.

The first surgeon says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."

The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order."

The fourth surgeon chimes in: "You know, I like construction workers...those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over at the end, and when the job takes longer than you said it would."

But the fifth surgeon shut them all up when he observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, and no spine, and the head and butt are interchangeable."

The general was confined to the military hospital for treatment of a minor malady.

For almost a week he made a complete nuisance of himself, irritating both staff and the other patients, demanding attention and expecting his every order to be followed immediately.

He was in a six-man ward rather than a private room, his meals were too cold or not served to suit his taste, the light needed to be adjusted to his demands, the nighttime activities interfered with his rest... and on, and on.

One afternoon an orderly entered the room. "Time to take your temperature, General."

After growling at the orderly, the general opened his mouth to accept the thermometer.

"Sorry, General, but for this test we need your temperature from the other end."

A whole new barrage of verbal abuse followed, but the orderly was insistent that a rectal temperature was what the test called for.

The general at last rolled over, bared his rear, and allowed the orderly to proceed. The orderly then told the general, "Stay exactly like that and don't move. I'll be back in five minutes to check up on you" and withdrew.

An hour later, the head nurse entered the room, saw the general with his bare rear in the air and gasped, "What's going on here?"

"Haven't you ever seen someone having their temperature taken?" the general barked.

"Yes I have, General, but with a daffodil?

Not sounding stereotypical, but many of the home aides that I have seen are women usually Hispanic or from the Islands. All 3 of the aides that was assigned to my grandmother do not speak English well at all, 1 is from Puerto Rico and the other 2 are from Uganda.

Recently my grandmother fell in her apartment below us and had to be sent to the hospital the next morning. It was VERY hard getting the story from the aide working that day being that she speaks little to no English and very hard getting important, specific answers. I don't think we need to go through this communication gap in these emergencies.

You might be good at what you do but if you do not speak the language I speak how can we communicate in emergency cases or get to answer specific questions? This should not be the case. Do you agree?

I don't know if it's true but I heard in China they have a program for helping the elderly and I think it's a good idea.
When you are young you volenteer your time , lets say 2 hours per week to go to an elderly persons home and help them.
Things like washing , ironing ,cleaning, company ect for free.In return ,how ever many hours you donate, when you are old you get that many hours free help.
In Australia our goverment is letting down the elderly it may be the same where you live.
I would like your ideas how to get something like this started.
Is it a good idea?
Should it be church run ? If so religion should not be a concideration as to who gets help and who does not.
Should it be goverment run ?
It would need funding , as it would involve administration .Would you donate or should the goverment at least fund it ? I don't feel you can charge the helper or the one being helped that would defeat the purpose
Can you see it working if run properly ?
Any constructive input welcom
