I can't seem to focus on one thing too long. I didn't use to be this way. Is anyone else out there with this problem? Could it be part of aging?

I'm the same way. I have always been scatterbrained, but it is getting a bit worse. It gets harder and harder to concentrate on the task at hand, and even harder to finish the task.

Edit: I am taking a short vacation next week.. I hope it helps!

Daisymae, It could be a part of aging... Depends on your arteries.

But I'd like to think many of us have gotten so busy that we can't remember what we're doing. Did you read the question about the woman who said she opens up her refrigerator, hoping to find the answer to her question, which was, "What was I looking for?"

Not to worry. If it bothers you a great deal, you can ask the doctor about it. As for suggestions, experience tells me you may be bored. Turning off the brain so you can focus in one direction is difficult - even for the young.

What you're experiencing is not always an age-related problem.

Work on something you really enjoy for a while, and maybe your focus will remain at least for a while.

Good luck, and God bless.

If it's only to do with age, I've been old all my life.
Perhaps you're trying too hard or got too much on your mind. Stress can be a swine too and if you're worrying about age catching up or overtaking, you become more conscious of all the negative things.

Having said that, if you are really worried a visit to your doctor will set your mind at rest.

I've always said I have the attention span of a knat, so for me it's not an age thing. I'm just always doing or interested in several things at a time, so my mind does wander. My family and I have realized though, if it's something I'm really interested in (like Y/A) I can be totally absorbed for quite a long time. lol

You might have a gas leak in your residence. Sometimes the carbon monoxide builds up from leaks around the top of your gas water heater & this could cause some memory problems. Perhaps more fresh air would clear out those cobwebs? I don't think you can stop your mind from wandering until it has explored the entire landscape!

It is not a bad thing to wander as long as you no where home is. LOL My boyfriend just got tested for adult attention deficit disorder. He is on medication, and it has improved his life(and mine) by 100%. He takes something called Adderal. And, the doctor told him he had tested over 300 people, and my boyfriend was the first one to test positive for a definite problem.

Get your self in an extremely person-friendly room, like your front room. Blindfold your self and flow around conveniently. try this throughout each and each room. ultimately you will experience extra mushy being at nighttime and make certain there is rather no longer something to be terrified of. Now think of in case you have been born blind and lived at nighttime all your existence. those human beings be taught to triumph over great problems and hindrances because of the fact they should, they have not any decision.

A few years ago I took a class in meditation. I learned that the human mind is very "noisy" and that it just takes a LOT of practice to learn to control that. I was pretty good at it for a while, but it takes constant exercise to keep it up.

I have those days too, so not to worry. It may be caused by having so much on your mind, instead of being a part of the aging process. If it's a part of the aging process, then you're not alone. :)

I take spells of the same thing...and always have...I once even diagnosed myself as ADD but it was jsut wishful thnking. It only really hinders me on those days i get overwhelmed. I wouldn't worry about it -- it just may be an important part of your personality. Whatever causes it--I like it -- you wear it well.
