I really do not understand this aspect of Christian doctrine. I don't believe in Jesus/stories in the Bible, so I don't get into heaven. That's cool/whatever. But when I go to Hell the Devil gets to burn me in a lake of fire forever? Why is he doing this?

Because I don't. Not any more than I hate mickey mouse, or superman, or batman, or spiderman, or noah, or the ninja turtles, or pj sparkles, or the care bears, or frodo baggins, or spongebob squarepants, or jimmy neutron....

Do you hate imaginary beings? Isn't that a sign that you should seek professional help?

Why do you tell me that I just hate god/jesus?

I remember a certain one. Polar bears messing around and then drinking a bottle of coca-cola.

I also like the Hershey's kisses dingling the tune of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas."

If it didn't exist prior to Jesus' death, and the Romans were the ones who killed him, why they it became a religion with so many followers?

If I'm right, then I'll get presents every Christmas. If I'm wrong I don't lose anything. If they're right, they won't get anything, and if they're wrong they won't get anything (Santa only brings presents to those who believe).

So, isn't it in peoples' best interest to believe in Santa?

In light of this decision matrix will you start believing?

2007-12-12 01:17:15 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

I used to believe in Santa. Then I found out that he was a made up figure to make Christmas magical for us children. Lots of the things associated with Santa have parallels in religions. e.g. Rewards, being good, rites and rituals. etc. Having stopped believing I cannot see how it would be possible for me to believe again.
Is it not the same for atheism. If not, why not?

I think they are rather separate. The best metaphor i heard for the trinity is that they are like water. Water can be in the form of Solid, liquid and gas. The spirit is the gas of course. What do you think?

by her own FATHER!! because she decided to be her own person, and chose to wear western dress over the traditional muslim garb. what's with these people?? this is worthy of murder? is this what your religion teaches you? it amazes and disgusts me that if we go to their countries, by law, women must wear their garments but when they come here, or canada, they think they can do anything they want in the name of their god. i'll keep mine, thank you.

Punishment breeds dicipline which brings change. Thats the purpose of it. If God does not care enough to punish us while we are living and changing. ....why would he care about the punishments of our souls?

hello....hello?

When I was at primary school I used to hate the school bully. He used to make my and some of the other kids' lives misery.

We got around this though by telling ourselves he didn't exist. Problem solved.
