The thought occurred to me [yeah, I know - shocking, I had a thought] -- but as the questions roll in and on about the brotherhood of the Savior and Lucifer, etc,etc -- what should we drink? I'm leaning toward apple cider -- but the kids are hoping for hot chocolate [yes, son. With one vote for eggnog.
What do you think?

When did men have so much power? Where in the Bible does it say to tell someone they are saved or lead them to me? Isn't Jesus our mediator and not man? If you tell someone they are saved, then are you going to also be their judge too?

Our lager
Which art in barrels
Hallowed be thy drink

Thy will be drunk
(I will be drunk)
At home as in the tavern

Give us our beer with foamy head
And forgive us our spillages
As we forgive those who spill upon us

Lead us not into incarceration
And deliver us from hangovers

For thine is the beer
The bitter and the lager
For ever and ever

okay this is how it goes
if there was such a thing as the "perfect" person, this person would have "superpowers" that everybody else doesnt have, but all in one person, so if we lived in a perfect world, everybody would be perfect, and whats the point of a world with no conflict?
now for the religion part
religion and nationality is the root of at least 90% of the problems in the world, so theoretically , the world would be a better place without it
so basically, we are screwing ourselves with perfection and religion right?
another thing, what is the big deal with jesus? so what if he died on a cross, it was a long time ago people, get with the program

If time, in a 'general' sense, is a way in which we measure series of events, then when you boil everything down, don't you end up with nothing more than methods of passing time?

You may tell yourself you're doing more than just this...
"i'm going to medical school, i'm becoming an artist, i'm learning to be an actor, i'm enjoying fine cuisine, i'm reading, i'm writing, i'm eating, i'm sleeping, i'm going to church."

...but in the end, isn't all of this just to pass time and be satisfied with the time you passed? And, if not satisfied then at least pacified?

Now, sure, there will always seem to be more than what i'm saying... for we like to dress things up and imagine that we're accomplishing something, as if we could ever do more than pass time; and the craving for generality and more consuming explanations will plague mankind for a long while.

So, i ask you, when is it ever more than passing time? other than when it just 'feels' like more?

There are many many Christians that are highly inteligent that have college degrees and high paying jobs. Just as there is many many uneducated Atheists. Intelligence has nothing to do with faith. I personally am never offended by what any one says ever. But I was just wondering why the Atheists are always insulting our intelect. You do not see Christians insulting yours due to your lack of belief. Your thoughts please

What doctors say, and what they're really thinking:

"This should be taken care of right away."
I'd planned a trip to Hawaii next month but this is so easy and profitable that I want to fix it before it cures itself.

"Welllllll, what have we here...?"
He has no idea and is hoping you'll give him a clue.

"Let me check your medical history."
I want to see if you've paid your last bill before spending any more time with you.

"Why don't we make another appointment later in the week."
I'm playing golf this afternoon, and this a waste of time.
--or--
I need the bucks, so I'm charging you for another office visit.

"We have some good news and some bad news."
The good news is, I'm going to buy that new BMW. The bad news is, you're going to pay for it.

"Let's see how it develops."
Maybe in a few days it will grow into something that can be cured.

"Let me schedule you for some tests."
I have a forty percent interest in the lab.

"I'd like to have my associate look at you."
He's going through a messy divorce and owes me a bundle.

"I'd like to prescribe a new drug."
I'm writing a paper and would like to use you for a guinea pig.

"If it doesn't clear up in a week, give me a call."
I don't know what it is. Maybe it will go away by itself.

"That's quite a nasty looking wound."
I think I'm going to throw up.

"This may smart a little."
Last week two patients bit off their tongues.

"Well, we're not feeling so well today, are we...?"
I'm stalling for time. Who are you and why are you here?

"This should fix you up."
The drug company slipped me some big bucks to prescribe this stuff.

"Everything seems to be normal."
Rats! I guess I can't buy that new beach condo after all.

"I'd like to run some more tests."
I can't figure out what's wrong. Maybe the kid in the lab can solve this one.

"Do you suppose all this stress could be affecting your nerves?"
You're crazier'n an outhouse rat. Now, if I can only find a shrink who'll split fees with me ...

"There is a lot of that going around."
My God, that's the third one this week. I'd better learn something about this.

"If those symptoms persist, call for an appointment."
I've never heard of anything so disgusting. Thank God I'm off next week.

I’ve been accused many times of making a religion out of bashing religion. Well I’m here now to even the score; I say creationism is a religion out of bashing science. It’s gone further than just believing in a god and an afterlife and having the faith of a simpleton in an impossible fairy tale. The fact that creationism didn’t exist before the Theory of Evolution proves this, doesn’t it?

My parents worked at a factory when I was a kid and made decent money for the times $14/hr. The factory closed down and having no college education they were forced to work at a fast food restaurant and a gas station. They held two jobs each, worked their way through college, both got degrees, and now make $50,000 (mom) and $70,000 (dad) a year each. The process took 10 years but they did it.

What I don't get is how some people just stay in those low wage jobs? I've seen people there in their 40's and it always makes me sad that they would choose that life.
