why are christians so critical of other denominations in christianity? i always here so much bashing of christians by other christians from different denominations. the ones i see picked on the most are catholics, jehova's witnesses, and mormons. are other religions as judgmental of other members within their faith as christianity?

1. The creator of the universe, decided to impregnate a virgin human living on an insignificant blue speck of his creation. The offspring was then able to turn water into wine, raise the dead, feed thousands of people from one basket, rise from the dead himself and ascend into heaven (Wherever that is). To some unknown end that also happens to benefit mankind, which is desirable to this omnipotent being for some unknown reason.

OR

2. A number of 300+ year old folk tales were gathered together by the Council of Nicaea, under the direction of a Roman Emporer named Constantine and woven into a fantastic tale that established an authoritative religous organization that he could control. This would make the story similar to the modern tales of Superman, Lord of the Rings, Santa Claus, Tinkerbell, the Tooth Fairy and the ancient tales of Hercules. Since these have actually happened, it must be conceded it is possible such a thing could occur.

A story of repentance from the bible !!!

Jonah 3: 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. 6 Then word came to the king of Nineveh ; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying,

Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?

10 Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and HE DID NOT DO IT !!!

I'm just wondering because I don't think I could ever get this whole "pure christian" thing down pat. As so many of the folks here assume to have.
Things I have going against me:
1) I believe gays should have the same etitlements as everyone else.
2) I can not bring myself to drown my kids...even when they drive me nuts.
3) I am happily married to my step brother. (which I just learned is considered a moral and religious sin by many) Oh and BTW we were married before they were (the parents)...but yes he is still my step brother.
4) I do not think I could tell anyone to go to hell.

So tell me why should I even bother attempting to believe when when it was all said and done I would still have the same beliefs regarding life as I do now? Wouldn't I just be a big disappointment to your god anyway?

Doesn't necessarily have to be the Judeo-Christian God. My new favorite...
"You asked for a loving God: you have one....not a senile benevolence that drowsily wishes you to be happy in your own way, not the cold philanthropy of a conscientious magistrate, nor the care of a host who feels responsible for the comfort of his guests, but the consuming fire Himself, the Love that made the worlds, persistent as the artist's love for his work and despotic as a man's love for a dog, provident and venerable as a father's love for a child, jealous, inexorable, exacting as love between the sexes....It is certainly a burden of glory not only beyond our deserts, but also, except in rare moments of grace, beyond our desiring." ~ Lewis

Mount Ararat was the mountain Noah's arc landed on. I'd really like to hear the explanation (from an atheist) of a how a 4,000-year-old arc, with the same measurements mentioned in the Bible, got to the top of a mountain, other than the Truth.

I am Jewish. I don't believe in Jesus, I never will- believe me. So another one of God's chosen is going to hell for eternity. Doesn't make much sense, why would God pick the Jews if he knew they would "drop the ball"? Anyway, not the question. Here's the question: I'm Jewish, I always will be. Why is it that i'm always asked to convert, or i'm always being told that "jesus is the way"? I swear, every time I walk home i'll have some christian talk me out of judaism or some jehova's witness walk to my door and tell me about christianity. Come on. Ok, God spoke through our people, every prophet was Jewish, you got your bible to go crazy over. In the end, why can't people just accept someone else's religion without being pushy or saying that they're wrong. I've never done this until people have gotten too pushy, then the numbers gain shut me up. Message: Christians- leave the other religions alone.

I do not think homosexuals choose to be gay, however, neither do I think people choose to be alcoholics, drug addicts, masochist, pedophiles or simply attracted to certain under garments, sents, or colors

I am not trying to prove a point or anything, I am just trying a social experiment to see how people justify the difference, if one sees a difference.

I know one is a mutual choice between to people and the other is an abuse of an innocent child.

THAT IS NOT THE POINT.

Do we realize as believers that upon His ascension, Jesus Christ retained His Humanity. He did not unincarnate. There is Humanity in the Godhead now. Imagine that! In Eternity past God was completely Divine in His Nature. But through Christ's incarnation, human living, death, resurrection, ascension, enthronement, glorification He put Humanity into the Trinity!
SOme of you might look at me and say that I lost it. But consider this.. It is the Man Christ Jesus who intercedes for us. He is our Mediator between God and man. He is our High Priest carrying out His heavenly priestly ministry now.
I just wanted to put this matter to you brothers and sisters. Please share your thoughts as it relates to this.

Ty for taking the time to contribute with your own views on these thoughts.

Ever since my son was brainwashed by an evil man that homosexuality is ok, and even convinced my son after "dating him" for 4 years to hold a mock wedding (everyone knows gays can't marry, because marriage is a sacrament in the eyes of God that can only be made between a man and a woman). While my efforts to reverse the brainwashing by referring him to psychological help from groups specializing in correcting the path of sexual deviants by making them straight or ex-gay, I have come face to face to the fact that our Christain nation continues to tolerate crimes against nature. Repeatedly in the bible - those who lie with man as they would with women (homosexuals) are denied heaven in the revelations. Why isn't our nation doing anything to prevent predators from recruiting people to hell? How do we make our nation follow the path of Jesus Christ and prevent the promotion of same sex attraction? I still don't understand how the gay recruiters can live with themselves.

I was watching Nancy Grace (only watch it when she is not around) and am baffled by this Police Sgt who is a suspect in the disappearance of his 4th wife Stacy! They are dragging the canal that runs passed his house and have searched the house for clues! However, no one has mentioned that "a body" could be hidden in the swimming pool in the back yard! And I always believed that Policemen were not paid too well. Well Sgt. Drew Peterson is now collecting a pension of $6,000 a month! Any comments ? Do you think he killed her - and do you think he killed his 3rd wife?

When I went to school you would get suspended if the school saw you have a Bible. and they state you are not allowed to talk to others about Christ. Does anyone know what is the matter with this subject in school? Thank you for your time and Happy Holidays
