I have only my maternal grandmothers' gold and agate drop
earrings and seven pieces from her blown glass collection,
including some dinner bells, and a hand made afghan that
she crocheted for a Christmas present for one of my aunts.
I used to have a set of ruby red drinking glasses and a pair
of dainty bud vases from her as well, but I lost all of my
collectibles several years ago.Luckily what I now have, I got
when my oldest aunt died, who'd taken care of my grandma
in her later years.
I intend to pass the earrings to my daughter this Christmas
and hope our grandson can pass them along some day to
his wife, if he marries. I'd give her the glassware also, but
she wouldn't be interested in having things like that with all of
her cats and dogs probably.

I have some antique pieces that came down from my grandparents. My most treasured item is the beautiful set of mechanical pencils in the original box that my grandfather gave to me. About a week before he died he called me back into his room and gave them to me. They disappeared for a long time but one day a few years ago my father gave them to me. He had the good sense to know that a very young child would probably have misplaced them. I look at them every so often and think about how much I loved my grandfather and I silently thank my father for saving them for me.

I have a lot of my father's old records- I may never figure out how to work a record player, but I want them because music was our special thing. From the time I was a baby, he and I would listen to music together. I have his pocket knife, too. There are a lot of other things that were my dad's- a good bit of them are not worth a lot, but they hold a lot of sentimental value because he passed away from pancreatic cancer last year.
EDIT- Who else thinks the person who gave us all thumbs down is an idiot? What's there to disagree with ??

I have my mother's Joy Of Cooking cookbook. She got it when she got married in 1932. I used to have the Honolulu Star newspapers from Dec. 7th and 8th 1941, but my stepmother ended up with them. I still have a pin cushion I bought for my mom in 1961. It is shaped like a rocking chair and has two sides with holders for thread. It does rock. I am still using some of her kitchen things, a bowl, a cast iron skillet, a slotted spoon, that type of thing. I lost my mother in 1962. I still miss her.

among other things-I have my grandmothers hutch, I have a cradle/deacons bench that belonged to my great grandmother, I have one of my fathers guns, I have an old oak bookcase that belonged to my great aunts. I gave my son and his wife my great grandmothers wedding quilt, which had the initials of each lady that made a square sewn on it-must be well over a hundred years old, maybe more, as I'm 58 and the youngest child in my family.
