I'm just wondering because I don't think I could ever get this whole "pure christian" thing down pat. As so many of the folks here assume to have.
Things I have going against me:
1) I believe gays should have the same etitlements as everyone else.
2) I can not bring myself to drown my kids...even when they drive me nuts.
3) I am happily married to my step brother. (which I just learned is considered a moral and religious sin by many) Oh and BTW we were married before they were (the parents)...but yes he is still my step brother.
4) I do not think I could tell anyone to go to hell.

So tell me why should I even bother attempting to believe when when it was all said and done I would still have the same beliefs regarding life as I do now? Wouldn't I just be a big disappointment to your god anyway?

Well it sounds as though your mind is made up on the subject! I can only give you a little insight into my world as a Christ Follower!
1) I have many gay friends and love them as much as I do any other person! Just bc they are gay does not make them evil and yes I think they should have the same rights as me!
2) I think you are referring to the lady that said God told her to drown her kids...I think...Well I can tell you she had mental issues and God DID NOT tell her to kill her children!!!
3) I dont care who your married too! I would love you the same...If you guys are not blood...who cares!
4) I would never ever tell ANYONE to go to Hell! Nor would I tell them thats where they are going!
And NO you would not be a disappointment! Dont look in my closet! I have some bad things in there!
If Jesus were alive YOU and I would be the type he hung out with!
You see I get judge harshly all the time by conservative christians! I have 22 piercings, pink hair, and plenty of tattoos! I am sorry it seems as though you have had bad experiences with some christians! I am not like that!
I bet im going to get thumbs down from my fellow ppl!!!
Lots of love to you!!

You are not a disappointment. God loves everyone. He suffered the atonement and was crucified so that we can all live again. He suffered for you. Now, if you listen, you will have a good feeling. That is the Spirit of God within you telling you it's true. If you listen to that same Spirit, you can discern truth from error and the Spirit will lead you to truth. It's not easy. The adversary wants you to feel bad about yourself. He wants to lie to you. The truth is plain and simple, but requires faith to believe. God is your father and loves you, just as you love your kids. He wants the best for you and has not forgot about you. You have taken the first step by asking the question. Let the Spirit of God help you discern the truth.

Because as time progresses, each day will be better than the previous. As you begin to have faith, you will begin to die to your self (not literally) and paradoxically become more alive by God's grace and power. This can only be experienced. It cannot be scientifically proven, for science is great but cannot go into the realm of Mystery. You will realize that life goes beyond ourselves. We are not the be all and end all of existence. We become more alive by reaching toward God and others and beyond ourselves. You will know true happiness more and more. Knowledge seeks the Truth and the Truth will set you free.

1)I believe they should too. I have many gay friends who are great people. They should be able to do whatever they want to do, it doesn't affect us.
2)Where did that even come from? Are you talking about baptism or something?
3)Again, that is your business, it doesn't affect anyone else. I don't see anything wrong about it personally
4)I have never and will never tell anyone to go to hell. It's not my place to judge anyone.

I'm not going to tell you why you should believe in God, since it wouldn't change your mind anyway. I just thought I would share my thoughts on what you said.

you know what, believing is a personal choice you make between you and god. I cant give you good reasons, maybe if you tried asking god, he would.

If you knew anything about god you would realize that he made the ultimate sacrifice for us, he would not be disappointed in you.

That's not for us to judge but for a good reason....
1 An eternity of happiness like none on this earth and to live forever in that is good enough for me.
Everyone sins and what each of us does in our life is of our own consequences in the end ...it is up to you to decide not for us to tell you this is what you have to do.. You heard us Christians preach to you and you know the truth if you decide not to take it to heart thats on you.

"Wouldn't I just be a big disappointment to your god anyway?"

we ALL fall short to the glory of God. we all sin. it is never to let to get to know and have a personal relationship with God.

He loves us all unconditionally.

i don't tell anyone they are going to hell. that decision is up to God.

the main reason you should is because it will be the beginning of you being freed from being haunted with this subject...you dont try to prove that ther is no santa clause...no...ur obsessed with this...why? maybe deep inside you know the truth but fear facing it cause you have many questions you fear that cant be answered..hmmm

Everyone has different beliefs. But why should I not believe in my God?? To each his own!

it's not up to me to do anything. that's your decision to make for yourself and you've evidently made your choice. but i know you realize that christians are not perfect either, or anyone else for that matter. what makes christians unique is that they will admit their guilt before god who loves them, and recognize what that god did for them in order to bring them into a lasting relationship with him. so i guess my answer to you as to why you should believe would be: it's because jesus loves you and wants you to love him so that he may bring you his peace and life.
