Im newly Pagan and i love to learn about pagan traditions and holidays. I was christian until i was mature enough to think for myself and i saw my life connected with nature and The Goddess. And since yule is near i was wondering why do Pagans celebrate it? How do they? Is christmas and Yule the same thing? Thanks to anyone who answers me!

not to be friends with Christians and Jews, but many Muslims say that was just in "context" of a particular time. Why then are Muslims in the Ramadan section giving thumbs up to an answerer who says not to befriend them or celebrate their holidays? Are true Muslim feelings being shown in Ramadan because they don't think many non-Muslims go in there? Or is this just another "radical" Muslim?

Ok, so everyone deeply believes that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, the savior of the world and so on. Well, here's why I'm still questioning this and hopefully you can help. I'd like real answers too PLEASE, not just "jesus is the way". So, according to what I read in the OT, which is apparently the blue print for the Messiah, the Jewish people are the chosen people. They are the decendants of the Prophets, they have lived through 5,700 years of tragedies with such a small ammount of people, they've out lived all the amazing dominating empires who've killed them by the millions. From what I know, they're the only people that God has put an empire through 10 horrible plagues then split a sea just to get them out of slavery. The messianic prophecies say "The jewish people will experience eternal joy"[Isaiah 51:11"every leader of a nation will turn to a Jew" [ Zechariah 8:23] so on. The Jews have given us democracy, a judicial system, and they gave us God. Why are they the wrong religion?

This may sound odd, but I think that the time of the year affects how introspective I am; for lack of a better term, "spiritual." I know that there are times of the year when I seem to notice things more, appreciate them more, consider things more.

With the year drawing to a close, I find myself rather thoughtful--I mean that I am taking time out to just be alone with my thoughts and consider my life. I don't know what this is about this time of year, but I feel a greater poignancy. I feel a greater sense of connection with others and a greater empathy.

Do you experience the same kind of "spiritual" patterns? Do you think this is part of nature, the cycle of the year tying into a cycle of spirituality, perhaps? What times of the year do you feel more in tune with all creation, and what do you think the reason for it is?

Well, as many of you may know, I had recently converted to Funkamentalism, but I was sitting on the beach in Jamaica yesterday, and a Rastafarian was trying to tell me about how great Haile Selassie is. As I was listening to him drone on about JaJa loving, a coconut fell out of the tree and hit me in the head. Now, we had been sharing a big spliff when this happened and I was already a little woozy. I was knocked cold. When I awoke, I didn't want to be a Funkamentalist anymore. I had read a study recently about how people who suffer head injuries often become atheists. So I decided when I woke up to be an atheist, but my Rastafarian friend was there with another big ganja spliff. Now, what I and I tink mon, is it woul' be really rasta righteous if I and I both become an atheist/Rastafarian. That way, I could sit on the beach growing dreadlocks and smoking the herbal rites. But what I want to know is, did that coconut knock some sense into me , or did it knock the sense out of me?

My recent participation in this website has me thinking about R&S even when I'm not online or studying. I have found myself using different language. Or noticing some of the things I say. I was wondering, do Atheists say...
"Oh My God!"
"For Heaven's (or God's) Sake!"
"I'd move Heaven and Earth to..."
"You can just go to He**"
"God help me, if he doesn't shut up I'm gonna..."
"Jesus Christ you scared me half to death"
"Oh, good god how many of these stupid sayings can she come up with??"

OK, you get the point. Do you use those kinds of phrases? Do make a point not to because you don't believe in a God? Personally, I find that it feels less like swearing now that I have a different idea of God. But I'm not Atheist, so I was just wondering what all of you AM members thought about it. :)

Like many young people, I had my crisis of faith and I fell from Christianity quite quickly. It is quite simple. If God has an overall plan for everyone, then this means that events have already been determined. For example, one person is already deemed to move on to heaven when another is tossed to hell and they have no actual choice in the matter because it has all be figured into God's plan.

I realize that this may seem like an atheist retort, but I am myself quite a spiritual person. This is something that reveals itself in a multitude of religions, a confrontation of free will and an overall plan. I know of many other conflictions in religion, but this one sits vividly in my mind. Do you agree that this is a true Christian Paradox?
