Question #2: What was your favorite Christmas present of all time?

2007-12-12 14:25:43 · 19 answers · asked by D Uncle 3 in Religion & Spirituality

1 Samuel 2:3
"the Lord is a God of knowledge."

Psalm 139:1-10 speaks of God's great knowledge and that his presence is everywhere.

1 John 3:20
"for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything."

Jeremiah 23: 23-24
"Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him?saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord."

How can God be God if he doesn't know everything? What things would God NOT know? Who or what would know about the things God doesn't know? Also how can God be God if he doesn't exist in a specific space in time? What replaces this space that God is not? What exists within the space God isn't? If God isn't omnipresent, then he's not God; for God would be limited to an area of space. If God is LIMITED in space and knowledge, he's also LIMITED in his POWER to make himself in that space and to know what he doesn't know.

Gehinom (Gehenna), according to rabbinic literature, is a place or state where the wicked are temporarily punished after death. “Gehenna” is sometimes translated as "hell", but the Christian view of hell differs from the Jewish view of Gehenna. Most sinners are said to suffer in Gehenna no longer than twelve months. Those who are too wicked to reach paradise are sometimes said to be punished forever. Other accounts reject the idea that a merciful God would punish anyone forever,in which case those too wicked for purification are destroyed.

I am not asking what the bible teaches about purgatory, or whether you believe in purgatory or not.

I am asking if the concept of purgatory could have arisen from the then pope's knowledge of judaism's gehenna. Which clearly has the ideology that Hell is not truly permanent, and there is a temporary holding place for people who need to become purified. That is why the surviving members of the family are asked to pray for 11 months.

A catholic priest must remain celibate and not marry. I'm asking this because I ran into an old friend of mine that I had not seen in years. She mentioned that her nephew now has his own congregation and is engaged to be married.

Should it be used that way?
A hypnotist, using the power of suggestion, convinces the subject he/she will experience second degree burns when touched. The subject is then touched with an unlit cigarette and reacts accordingly...blisters actually begin forming on their skin.
For all practical purposes, would this be considered a "real" experience?
Could the same techniques be used to trigger enlightenment? Would it be real?

Doctors and Fat Guys
An extremely obese man shows up at his doctor's office and claims that he's tried every possible way to lose weight, to no avail. So the doctor proposes a radical diet: rectal feeding. Reassuring the fattie that he won't starve to death, the doctor explains that he can actually take in enough nutrients through the rectal walls to sustain life, but that he's sure to lose weight in the process.
Three weeks later the patient comes in for a follow-up appointment, and he's down from 360 to a trim 175 pounds. The doctor shows him into his office and asks him how he's feeling, noticing that he's bouncing up and down in his seat quite energetically. "I'm feeling great, doc; never felt better" is the reply.

"In that case, why are you bouncing up and down like that?" asked the doctor.

"Just chewing some gum!"

A fellow user told me I need the blood of Jesus Christ to cure me of my homosexuality. Do you know where I can purchase this blood? Is there some available on the black market, or something?

I need the real deal, I'm willing to pay no more than $50, so just give me a place, an online store, eBay, an underground black market in Egypt, anywhere I can purchase this stuff.

Thanks!

Ok well this is more of a poll to see who agrees with me. Can opinions be wrong. I believe so, people have opinions that are completly rediculous and unreasonable. Such as Hitler and his opinion that Jewish were inferior. Of course his WRONG opinion lead to mass genecide. Now I'm saying some opinions are wrong but I also believe everyone is entitled to their own. So to restate the question, do you believe opinions can be wrong?

There is a lot of mention around Christian circle's about "God's plan." I'm not arguing whether there is a plan or not, I am simply curious as to where in the bible it says God has a master plan. Please keep in mind I am not asking for what this plan is.
