Eve -- Thanks for asking. For years, it was always noble fir. Brother tells me doug fir is okay for the kids. I'll probably go that route. First time in 11 years for me.

We went to a Christmas tree farm this year and I cut down a tree, it's a Fraser Fir. Smells so wonderful. Funny story though, I folded down my back seats and had the lot hand put the tree in the car. It was a bit of a challenge even though we netted it. After we finally got it in. I asked "Do you get many people who have cars and find it difficult to get these trees to fit?" He replied " No most people just have us tie the tree to the roof". Gee did the donkey ears light up over my head fast! Once home with it I had a heck of a time getting it back out of the car too, there were no jolly words coming out of my mouth that day.I felt like the idiot some village was missing that day.lol.

We traditionally had a Noble Fir for most of my adult life. I
have never liked the plantation firs that require trimming from
a butterball into a cone shape. Their branches are so flimsy
that decorations slide right on down sooner or later. Now
Nobles are outrageous in price. And highly unnafordable for
fixed incomed people.
This year we got back a 6 ft fake tree we'd bought for our
daughter one year when we visited her for the week of
Christmas in Glendale, California. There wasn't a tree lot to
be found. And we were there early enough we'd thought.
So we knew we had to have a tree for our little grandson, and
we were desperate. So we were browsing in a little variety
and hardware store for something to do one day while our
daughter was at work, and they had a stack of these fake
trees. And they were on sale. So we figured, one of those
would be better than no tree. So we set it up and it was in the
living room when our daughter came home. The first thing
she said was, "I never dreamed I'd ever have a fake tree in
my living room". It was kind of scrawny, but with a few decor-
ations, it came to life. And we called it the Charlie Brown
Christmas Tree. And we told our grandson it was his very
own little tree. And I guess it grew on us in the days to come.
And once we had some presents to go under it, it looked
even better. Anyway, it got the job done. And it also sat on
display in our daughters living room when she moved back
up north. So after years of it stored in a garage, we found it
might be the solution for us this year. And since it takes up
little room, it fits into a spot behind my computer station. And
we can even walk by without tripping LOL. My husband was
so pleased after I'd decorated it last night. He said, "Hey, it
looks really good. I think we might just keep it for a few years".
LOL. But I miss the real deal. And I miss the smell. But I
don't miss the watering, or the pine needles on the floor LOL.
Tho for some reason, I have found a few of the fake ones.
So it will get the job done for us this year as well. If my
German family could only see us now LOL. We know our
Christmas trees LOL. Or we used to! LOL.

Ours is artificial, but given the opportunity, I'd love to have a real noble fir some year. It's really beautiful and I love the color, shape and especially the scent. I know they sell them up in NY where my family is, but I've never seen them at any of the lots down here in GA.

We probably won't decide until the day we go to get our tree. When we have the time, we like to drive out to a tree farm and cut our own Florida tree-Sand Pine or Leyland Cypress or Red Ceder. We've had Sand Pines several times, they are much like a "Charlie Brown" tree-which is fine by us because our decorations still look great.
If we go to a tree lot we usually go to our local produce market-and get either a Douglas Fir or maybe a Scotch Pine depending our our budget.

I like the Douglas fir. We use to get pine because of the fragrant smell but ornaments kept falling off the tree! Enjoy your tree hunt and decorations Wicks.

They are beautiful tree's and that is the one i would pick..
I love the smell and just the overall look..
Thanks for asking..

Ours is a douglas fir. We didn't really pick it out because of the type, we went for the size and fullness of the tree.

It has been a beautiful life-like looking fake for four yrs now. I feel they are so much safer plus I just got so tired of dealing with those needles. I like to have it up longer than some people. Usually until my birthday on the 12th day of Christmas. What is your favorite Wick?
