Whether they be Christian, Islamic, whatever...do their extremely rigid views on religion ever make you a little sad? Do they ever make you feel like humanity is tearing itself apart through legalism? Sometimes it makes me a bit blue.

I'm just curious to see if I'm the only one.

i love God, but where did he come from?

Does he get something out of it? Some form of pleasure that he can then reward you with a favor? Is that it? Or is he some kind of egocentric maniac that wants people to say praises to him?

Just because "Emman'uel" means "God with us" doesn't mean Jesus was God in the flesh. It was not unusual for Hebrew names to include the word for God or even God's personal name.

For example, Eli'athah means "God has come." Does that mean Eli'athah was God in the flesh? Jehu means "Jehovah is he." Does that mean Jehu was Jehovah? Elijah means "My God is Jehovah." Does that mean Elijah was Jehovah?

Does this mean God came to earth 50 million times? (Reasoning)

The new commercial out for Tonka toys is completly putting young boys into a stereotypical role of 'being built differently.' What do they mean differently? Girls can't play with trucks? OH PLEASE!!! Hasbro toys has another thing coming to them if they are going to completly write off all of their female clients. Who agrees with me?

St. Augustine wrote: "The martyrs are perfected in righteousness, and they earned perfection through their martyrdom. For them the church does not pray: for the other departed faithful she prays, but not for martyrs. They have gone out of this world so perfected that instead of being our clients, they are our advocates."

My question to you is this: If the victims of the Colorado church shootings died specifically for their Christian faith, do St. Augustine's words apply to them, even though they are evangelical Protestants? Would they now be our advocates--people a Catholic might conceivably want to pray to?

If not, could you explain to me more clearly how this works? Thanks. =)

I'm 25. I've been trying to get close with God.....reading the bible etc... but all the people around me just have sex with men. i'm starting to feel left out. My friend told me "a girl needs to get theirs" and 'there's no man that will wait for sex". Its been about 5 months for me. I know in the bible it says no sex before marriage. but i promise you- all my friends are doing it. And they end up living with their boyfriends. I feel so left out. but I don't want to go against Gods word. Am I wrong for warning my friends that this is wrong? What TO DO?

I find a good way to study a foreign language is to take a movie I know every line from in English, and watch it in that foreign language.

Apart from Disney movies, I've only seen one movie dubbed in Korean (Silence of the Lambs) and the Korean DVD doesn't even have the Korean track on it.

Does anyone know of some Korean-dubbed movies apart from Disney, some specific titles? And a good source for Korean materials other than Aladdin? (No Korea-based sites, though, I don't have a shiminbunho)

I think that that if everybody lived by the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) we'd be in a peaceful, beautiful world.

What's the purpose of "sins" that exist - that don't involve breaking the Golden Rule?

Am I uncorrect in calling someone who lives in Canada an American, someone who lives in the United States of America and American, someone who lives in Mexico an American, someone who lives in Brazil and American, etc. etc. etc.

Just like we refer to people who live in France, the UK, Germany, Spain, etc. as European because all of those countries make up Europe, it is proper to refer to anyone that lives in North, Central, or South America as American...right?

So when people say that only Americans should work in the United States of America, and they mean it in the context that Mexicans should not work illegally in the U.S.A., they are completely ignorant to the fact that everyone on this contentent is considered an American.

And when you see a sign that says proud to be American, a Mexican or Canadian can still stand behind that phrase and be a citizen of either country.

And it would be correct to call a citizen of those countries an American

Or am I completely wrong here?

memories of going to Disneyland when you were a kid? I remember going there when it first opened. I loved Tom Sawyer's Island, the rocket ship, the miniature cars and the submarine ride as I grew older (but still a kid)..

Are you expecting company for Christmas? My friend is arriving tomorrow - and I am nervous and finding it hard to sit still.

There have been some pretty miraculous things happening, first was the price of the ticket - first time he checked it was $1565.00 - then his travel agent phoned and said they had just announced a seat sale - $371 - can your believe it?

I feel like I had miracles popping up all over, and I believe sincerely that y'all wonderful seniors have been the conduit (is that the right word?) to God -

Second miraculous thing is that he had the same experience I had, a sudden awakening, feeling fear, anger, anxiety and worries just melt away - and then a feeling of peace -- and happiness. I have been praying he would let God into his life.
And it has happened - the best Christmas present I could have, ever - and my son today - took me to my appt at the clinic and then told me he had embraced God in his life.

I am SO happy for all of us.

Why is polygamy condemned in the Book of Mormon, but condoned in the D&C and still believed to be necessary in church doctrine for exaltation in the after-life?
