Do you ever feel that even though you may consider yourself an atheist, deist, or anything non-christian, that there is still an element of brainwash--or to put it more lightly pre-indoctrination, that defines your behavior and beliefs?

If it is supposedly the 'word of god', you shouldn't be able to pick and choose the bits that you believe in, it should be all or nothing, it's not a sweet shop.
If you say the creation story isn't true, what's to say the accounts of Yeshua's life aren't true?
You can't pick and choose.

Did you know that Buddha isn't considered a deity? Will that help you cut down on your list of deities to reference when speaking of other belief systems that you have no knowledge of other than what you might have heard from other people who didn't have a clue about them?

Thomas Jefferson... our 3rd president, also the author of the Declaration of Independence...

Its too bad he would be shunned and laughed off the stage today - he was really anti-religious. Just listen to him:

"I have recently been examining all the known superstitions of the world, and do not find in our particular superstition, Christianity, one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology."

Thomas Jefferson was a very reasonable man. Highly educated, very rational. Do you think America will ever have leadership like him again?

I think we should put some limits on importatation of these people.

The chinese have way too much power and they are taking over our universities and our institutions. We, the Americans, need to take a stand and put some limits on the importation of these people.

From the student governemnt, to the dating scene, the chinese are trying to put in their influence everywhere they can. I have had chinese people actually literally come between a woman and myself.

They are so agressive - I was sitting one seat apart from a girl in lecture, and he sits in between the seats. I was sitting next to the girl, and he squashes in next to me. This guy is chinese, and he is so characterisitic of them - opportunistic, uncouth, and unaware of cultural norms here in the west. He does so at his own peril - there are consequences.

...if people were required to pass a test in basic logic and debate before they could participate here?

Again and again, I see people engaging in the worst sorts of logical fallacies -- arguments from personal incredulity, assuming the answer, special pleading, and on and on. Just breathtakingly inane stuff, actually. The kind of "arguments" I'm almost hesitant to respond to, for fear that I'm somehow lending them credibility by acknowledging their presence.

Am I alone in this feeling? Or am I just being an intellectual snob?

I just saw a question about examples of homosexuality being observed in animals. Are people actually trying to use this as an argument that homosexuality should be acceptable by humans? There are a lot of things we observe in animals that we believe are wrong. If we are going to use this as "proof" that homosexuality is normal...then should we also take a look at these topics as well...and argue for them being "normal"?

- males killing male offspring
- males mating with multiple females
- males largely taking no part in the upbringing of the offspring
- fighting to solve most disputes
- mating out in nature...anywhere...anytime

I could go on and on...but do I really need to? Please notice that I have not stated any personal opinion of homosexuality. Let's just focus on this argument....do you really think it is a valid one?

I have a question, why do you think you are so persecuted? Is this what you think whenever people question you? At least nobody is killing you. You should thank God you live in America. All this complaining about "The Golden Compass" Don't watch it. It's a movie and it might give you an imagination. Just like your favorite Xtian films of the same Genre. Sorry but Darfur and 3rd world countries may have it bad....But you are delusional that God and Xianity will be destroyed. It's in your head and you may be listening to your church who wants control or money....I live in a tiny town and all my pastors still live in mansions...every year the church get's bigger and the small churches aren't any better in treating people. As they preach about killing Jews and Gays. Sorry I don't agree with you.....but it's because i'm observant.

Just to throw some spice in it...who's online identity would you question??

There was one that was close to Noah's size, but even with metal reinforcements they had to constantly pump water out in order to keep it afloat!
