Kids love to get money BUT they also love to get something that you've taken the time to pick out for them. It says that you think they're special and thought enough of them to take the time to put some thought into what might please them. Ask the child's mom if there's a particular toy he would like that's within your budget - and then buy it. If you want to tuck in a couple of bucks with it, the kid will go nuts.

If you usually spend $20, then I would go ahead and give him anything from $10-$20 cash. My kids are little and they do not care about the amount....they love it even if it is a dollar. Kids like money...it doesn't matter how much....it makes them feel big. :-)

I think neonesf1 has a great idea! You could go to the bank and get some half dollars or dollar coins to put in it, money your nephew has probably never seen bfore. I bet he'd think they were so cool. :>)

$20 is waaaay too much for a nephew in cash.
What are you trying to do, buy his love???

Get a gift or give him $5.

$20 is too much for a child who gets everything paid and bought for him. There is nothing he can spend it on that won't spoil him.

Get him a Piggy (or any type) bank and when he opens it put the first dollar or two in for him. Not only is it a good present, but it will get him started on the concept of saving for something he really wants.
