On yahoo answers or online for that matter, portray who they really are. Do you think some people online are the total opposite of who they are and use the internet or yahoo answers as a "getaway" from themselves, or do you think most people are genuine on here.

Just to throw some spice in it...who's online identity would you question??

You know the only person I can say is 100% real is me. That's because I know I am... There are people I trust on here, but I'm still cautious. However there are probably only about 3 people that I can say I REALLY trust. As I've had people tell me things that I've said or did, that have been completely untrue or unfair in their judgements against me.

But I just remember that those who have to lie for attention are really sad excuses for themselves. I'm upfront and honest, I'm not here to kiss anyone's butt or suck up to anyone, so I don't play games on here. I don't see a point in lying about yourself, I mean I'm not here to impress anyone with lies. I'm here to be me, answer/ask questions, and meet some new people that's it.

At the end of the day I know I've been honest... I mean I try to be nice to everyone, but fake people need to just not talk to me. Because when I find out the truth, I'll drop you, I'm not here for anyone's drama or grief...

As for who is lying in here, your guess is as good as mine! Probably at least half the people in here are liars/clones/trolls. I'm not 'outing' anyone though, let the truth be discovered by everyone else... Because I have no idea. :)

I've used for the most part my real name since 1996 Mike_in_PA unless taken. I though then, and wish now, this medium was a next step genuine way to meet since bars, etc seemed to be waning at least for me. That was more naive than smart makes me feel a little stupid, but for some the allies's must've helped in some positive way, just don't want to go through life thinking people are fundamentally bad. I think people are created by love, fallible by humanity and free will is why we're here now, just trying to get it better this time around.

Have no idea on the other part, BTW, would never be able to keep track if I had to do it challenging enough just to live my life.

i believe everyone for the most part. I try to concentrate on happy thoughts and not find problems under every rock i see. Of course there are times like yesterday when the guy posting as a lesbian was asking all those goofy questions, and it was obvious. But I feel that if someone wants to make up a bunch of stuff about themselves and it makes them happy...who am I to burst their bubble? Its not like it will affect my life in any way, let them have their fun!

LOL, Wickey, surprising you should ask this (don't ask why ;-)). But I have no way of knowing who is really being honest unless I know them better. Yes, it does take a little putting two and two together to figure someone out. As I just told someone I think is a good friend, if you are honest, it does not matter who else isn't. It does not take away from your own goodness in any way.

I think it's about 50-50. I think there are some "users" on here who are all the same person; and I'm not talking about the trolls. I can say I'm genuine and mean it, but it's up to you whether or not you care to believe me.

I like who I like, laugh at some, and disregard the rest. And I totally believe you are who you portray yourself to be.

I would question Tara J's identity and a few others. I think there are many people on here who lie about what they are really like. That being said, there are many genuine people here as well, maybe the ratio of liars/genuine people is split rght around 50%.

Ha! I think you're on to something there!

I know this girl that is the homeliest, shyest, quietest girl you're ever gonna meet. But when she's on-line, she's some independent woman that dates all these thugs and does all this stuff that she really isn't doing in real life. It kinda bothers me. But, you may need an alter ego to get away with.

I am 100% me but can only speak for myself. Are there posers? sure, but my own philosophy is I take people at their word up until they give me good reason to do otherwise. But lie to me and get caught and I haven't time to waste on them anymore

added: My own life has had enough bizarre twists that others often think I'm making it up..........oh well.
