When todays young adult has more exposure to the surreal characters of the main stream media-sesation tv, fantasy /fictions and supermodel lives- thanface to face everyday interpersonal interaction, do the character flaws of the tv personas become acceptable behavior? If they see their peers all do a certain action it becomes acceptable behavior. If their peers are tv characters do the observed activities then become acceptable behavior?

ok soI have no idea what to buy for my best friend.
-He is 16
-We have known eachother since kindergarten
-He always gets me something really cool for christmas so I need something really cool.
-I only have $20-$30

Now for my boyfriend
-He is 17
-We have known eachother for three years
-Dating off and on for 2 years
-Been dating for alomost 3 months this time around
-He says he got me something really cool so I have to get him something really cool

I opened my work computer this morning with this request from my boss:

"We need to think about what we are going to do for the wards and the different folks we deal with for Xmas--you 2 get together and come up with some ideas.

I want to do something for all the facilities where the wards live, the county clerks, the attorneys offices, etc. I will do the list you guys come up with a reasonable plan."

IF they were real, there would literally be no more poverty in the world, they could raise the money etct.
They could prove their authentication through simple premonitions etc.

It makes me angry, a REAL psychic would be so gifted, they would WANT to help people NOT charge them money- as much as possible.

Who agrees with me? What are your thoughts? Can you beleive people are so desperate for answers and unable to look within themselves that they give money to these con artists to tell them some 'tall tales'??

I am so done with this damn site. ppl come here looking for help and get insulted belittled and treated as a second class citizen, for having the nerve to bother you in your oh so important journey into your wonderful meaning to life. if you are here to give advice DON"T HURT, HELP!!! how on earth is making fun of ppl, belittling them, making them feel like a bad parent. a horrible animal owner or a menise to society for having the nerve to ask someone a question. Let me start by saying I'm a non smoker, so if I affend any of the smokers out there, I'm sorry. That's not my intention. I want to know how people feel about smoking/smokers in semi public areas. An example would be the mall. No one is allowed to smoke inside the mall, and I think that's a good thing.... but when you try to enter, or leave the mall, you have to make your way through a cloud of smoke/smokers. Am I the only one that is affended by this?

I have been to many countries and American's reputation is often their stupidity.

-We kill each other at triple the rate anyone else does.
-We have huge Army but low health and school systems.
-We worship celebrities as Gods.
-We know more about death than we do about life.
-We catch our Government and President lying to us on numerous occasion yet they are still empowered.

I can go on and on. I believe in the future we will certainly fall into civil war if the right thing happens. I.E Rodney King

This holiday season brings to mind last year when my only aunt (blood relative) and her hubby (let call him Uncle Herb) arrived at the family reunion empty handed. They announced that they didn't buy gifts for the rest of the family because Uncle Herb had bought auntie a new fur coat. I was miffed because they waited until the party to mention this after everyone else had already purchased their gifts for THEM. Also that it seemed so selfish that they spent their savings on themselves. I was debating on whether to even invite them to the family party this year or just instruct everyone else on to bring gifts for them. Am I being petty and over-reactive? How would you have felt? Any suggestions on what to do about them this year? Thanks in advance.
