"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

There are so many great hymns & contemporary songs out there for us to sing..........too many to mention.

But is there maybe one song in particular that you really love when it comes to worshipping the Lord?

For me, it's "Because He lives" by The Gaithers........

And......."Draw me Close" by Michael W Smith.

What about you?

Thanks,
-Primo

Do you ever get the feeling that your participation on this board is counterproductive both to your own relationship with Christ as well as to the unbelievers who read your questions & answers?

I ask this to you because I've recently, in the past few days, felt convicted in my spirit about some of my interactions with unbelievers on this board. I'll admit this board can become somewhat of an addiction and I've even neglected my usual private time of prayer and Bible study in the past week or two so I could come on to Y/A and engage people about their opposition to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This morning I've been reading in 2 Timothy chapter 2 and came across the following verses:

vs 14: "Keep reminding God's people of thes things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words, it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen."

vs. 16: "Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly."

didn't jesus teach us to turn the other cheek? then why do so many christians sign up for the military and go to war? why are there so many soldiers in iraq right now? what was the point of the "shock and awe"? why didn't we just turn our other cheek on 9/11? certainly, it's better to realize danger, and not offer our other cheek as jesus had taught. do you agree? i'm not saying i agree with the way this war has been handled. it's the mother of all screw-ups, if you ask me. but it doesn't change the fact sometimes turning the other cheek is not always the best solution.

be wrong in my life.I am struggling with a spending addiction due to been very materialistic, and wanting things I cannot possibly afford like cd's,a stereo to play them on,and the latest gadgets like mobile phones.I'm also struggling with bad ways and habits in my life.I'm under continual pressure and stress and am depressed, and because of it I get angry and swear and cuss a lot,so would I just fail in trying to be a true christian. How can I possibly become a Born-Again christian in my situation. In the past, from my teens up to I was fifty 5yrs ago I've kep saying sorry to God for my sins, saying the sinners prayer,as well as asking Jesus to be my Saviour but I wasnt really serious about it,so nothing changed within me,as I just carried on as before, going my own way, doing what I want,so therefore what can I do?I know Jesus died on the cross for me so I can be forgiven, but are there some people that God just wont save,'cause I think I'm one of them.I really want to be a christian.Denise

Giftmas!!! I don't believe in Jesus Christ as a deity, semi-deity, or "son of God" (which god? Some sources indicate that yahweh was the Sumerian god An...). There is very little (if any!) evidence that he even existed outside of the NT.

Who else celebrates Giftmas rather than Christmas?

...details of religion or religious differences?

Nobody cares about nativity scenes in public places. but they do mind censorship of their critcism of them.

It is difficult to fight a propaganda war (which we are currently losing in a big way) when you are mired by the same fundamental misconceptions as your adversaries - differing only by details.

This is the main reason why Bush's numbers have dropped and why republican numbers in general have dropped. YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT DRIVES A JIHADIST AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR STOOPING TO THEIR LEVEL.

You aren't going to do this by throwing together a 'judeo-christian casserole' of garbage beliefs. IT CLOUDS YOUR JUDGEMENT!

It is republicans (not democrats) who give radical islamists what they want: JIHAD!

wake up........

Recently, one of my pets died. I have been upset about losing it, and on the day it died, I was talking to a friend of mine. I had got past the crying stage for that day, and I was talking about my beliefs about death.

I told her that I was trying to console myself with my belief that my relatives who have passed will look after my pet until I get there. She said 'If you have such beautiful ideas about the afterlife, how can you be sad?' All I could say is that it's the same thing as when someone you know moves away and you know you won't see them for a long time. You get upset when they leave, and you miss them.

I was wondering what everyone else thought about this.

In 1597 26 Franciscan Priests, Jesuit Laybrothers and even three children were crucified. They went to their deaths joyfully and with great courage. By 1612 their were about 500,000 Christians in Japan. By 1614 Shogun Ieyasu banished all missionaries and had Catholic churches destroyed. In the 19th century when jpriests were finally allowed back in Japan they discovered many secret Catholics. Seperated from their Church they held to their faith.
