Atheists typically do not believe there is help available other than in this world.
They may meditate, they may ask friends or relatives, or they may simply reflect on the issue or problem.
Atheists don't believe that God fixes problems (of course, they don't even believe there is a God). Frankly, many Christians don't believe that God fixes problems either. His will is to give you free will, to make your own decisions.

Find a solution or fix the problem. For instance, I'm a technical contractor and with the public ignorance on the war in Iraq, funding is getting tight for defense contractors and my contract may be cut before Christmas. Rather that moaning about it or hoping that some supernatural force that allows others to starve to death will come to my aid, I'm posting resumes and working on getting another position.

I believe in shaping my world with intention and personal power. I believe that whatever we dwell upon in our heart and in our minds is what we manifest in this world - and I believe that people who pray are doing the same thing, largely, only I think that it is a consistent thing (not just on bended knee, but the daily chatter in your head, as it were) and so I use Yoga and meditation to help me be discerning in my thoughts and emotional choices and maintain my aim and intention. It is remarkable how well (and often how quickly) it works. It is also remarkable how hard it can be at times. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, as they say.
Peace!

I don't believe that I ever do need help from outside of this world. If a problem is too difficult for me to solve myself, then I rely on my friends and family to help me through the difficulties. I examine the problem at hand, and try to solve it as best I can, and ask for suggestions from other people.

I've always been able to get by with help from within this world. If I have a problem I try to solve it myself, or seek the help of someone who I would expect to be willing and able to assist me.

I fix my own problems. That's the wonderful thing about being athiest--you get to act instead of wondering if something is going to magically come save you. It's very liberating!

I have never been in a situation or can even imagine a situation where real world help wouldn't be preferred over hoping something supernatural could help me out.

If you need help that can only come from out of this world, then you're out of luck, since that means there's no help available to you. Atheists accept this and do the best they can to minimize the trouble.
