There are so many great hymns & contemporary songs out there for us to sing..........too many to mention.

But is there maybe one song in particular that you really love when it comes to worshipping the Lord?

For me, it's "Because He lives" by The Gaithers........

And......."Draw me Close" by Michael W Smith.

What about you?

Thanks,
-Primo

Dear Primo,

So many great songs!
I agree with you on Because He lives.
I agree with Suzanne on Amazing Grace
I agree with Angelica1951 on Here I Am To Worship

But the song that I usually have playing in my head is Standing on the Promises of God. Whenever I hear our former church pianist play that song with the grace notes it sticks with me for weeks! (Now you've got me hoping he'll come back for a visit real soon!)

For His glory,
JOYfilled

It is well with my soul. written by Horacio Spafford. (sung by Wayne Watson)
This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words.

Wayne Watson - It Is Well With My Soul
From the album Our Hymns

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
"It is well, it is well with my soul."

It is well (It is well)
With my soul (With my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed his own blood for my soul.
(chorus)

My sin, o, the joy of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
(chorus)

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
(chorus)

The songs that I cannot make it through without sobbing in greatful tears are:

Don Francisco's "He's Alive!" Here's a link:

The Gaither's "The King is Coming" here's a performance:

(Recently re-recorded by Ray Boltz.)

and
The old Hymn of "How Great Thou Art"
(The link I would usually give at http://www.cyberhymnal.org is currently down.)

Peace.

I generally wake up with a song in my heart every day.

Today I woke up literally singing, "He Lives" by Alfred Ackley

I love the hymns of old "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art", "He Leadeth Me" (on one of the I Worship DVDs is a beautiful bluegrass rendition)

Lately there's a couple of contemporary songs I listen to that has put me in a prayerful mood, especially when I'm not at my best "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" by Chris Tomlin and "I Will Lift My Eyes" by Bebo Norman

There are so many to mention, but I know you want only a few. My favorite is I can Only Imagine . next is Watch the Lamb by Ray Boltz, in the newer stuff, tho neither of these are really new.
In the old, there is still the BecauseeHe Lives, which puts me on m knees, and Amazing Grace. ONE that will always take you to your knees is called CAN HE STILL FEEL THE NAILS> Oh that we realize how much we hurt HIm when we sin, that we would do it no more.

God bless you for the question. We are to always go to God in worship with singing and praise.

Whatever is on the Michael W. Smith "Worship" album, and just about all of what I hear from Hillsong, Chris Tompkins, and Fernando Ortega.

As for old hymns - I like many of them, but mostly when a good choir does them.
