But not an introduction, it's for a friend who is very knowledgable in this, so I'm looking for a more advance book, but with the violent stories.

There is a lot of confusion out there. What is the purpose of baptism? Once you tell me the purpose of it, is it important to one's salvation? Please include scripture references.

... the more people are going to be curious and want to be part of it, right?

Rather like... Harry Potter, The Golden Compass, and yes, even sex.

You do realize that if you stopped freaking out about it, you wouldn't start the "forbidden fruit" thing and make everyone want to be part of it more than they ever would otherwise? Right?

And yes, YOU Christians do exactly that especially with kids who are looking for excitement and to protest against the establishment in the first place.

If you stopped freaking out about these thing, they wouldn't be so curious and it would be relegated to the back of their minds and forgotten much much more often.

In Dr. Peter Gott's column in the paper today, a reader wrote in to say that a doctotor told her friend, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, that women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car because of the heat reaction. It appears the plastic bottle has certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. Heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water, and those toxins have been identified in cancerous breast tissue.
Do you leave your water bottle in the car with the intention of finishng it later? I can tell you that I never will again!

We picked up a board book of this Christmas favorite and found that they had removed this part:
"The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath".
What do you think of that?

Why is there no single High Priest Rabbi today who speaks for all of non-profit Judaism?

With no single High Priest Rabbi today, how can Judaism go to a conference of various non-profit religions and represent non-profit Judaism?

Here is a concept, that in some form or fashion, "man" has believed since from as far back as we know.

I posted a quote/question by Redd Foxx on here making fun of stupid, ignorant and racist white people. Which I find to be so easy and fun, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. My question was pulled and reported, WTF? I'm white, why can't I make fun of my own people?

I am a muslim and if you non muslim believed that you are also children of God .This verses 171,chapter 004,an-nisa,God said:
O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, JESUS son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three". Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.

You say that none of the contradictions in the bible are actual contradictions, so let's say you wanted to add one. What could you add to the bible that would be a real contradiciton?

Then, once you've done that, imagine giving that altered bible to a Christian who never read the bible and tell them to read it. Would they be able to tell that your addition was an actual contradiction or would they rationalize it somehow and tell you it was not a contradiction?

"Has the Catholic Church ever changed its teaching? No, for 2000 years the Church has taught the same things which Jesus taught." (Catholic Catechism for Adults, p. 57).

I have seen this type of teaching on Yahoo ansers as well.
Here is a site that demonstrates just a few of those flip-flops.

What do you think about this seeming flip-flop of teachings?

Shouldn't freedom requires HOPE, not religion?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/06/romney.speech/index.html

"Freedom requires religion, just as religion requires freedom. Freedom opens the windows of the soul so that man can discover his most profound beliefs and commune with God. Freedom and religion endure together, or perish alone," he said.

Heres a way to see if God is real. Take 100 christians that say they have seen Jesus or have spoken with Him, and put them through a lie detector test. If they are telling the truth, I will continue on with my Christian faith. If they are liars, goodbye. what do you think? there is a chance for error, as some may be so adamant in their own lies, they start to believe it as the truth(i forget what the psychiatric term for that is).

This guy teaches that man is God's equal. He lives large. He owns 2 Rolls-Royce automobiles, a private jet worth $1 million, and lives in a $1 million + mansion. He claims the building where his ministry is held is worth $18 million. I just heard today that he is refusing to turn over his financial records to a Congressional committee. I have to wonder if he is true minister or a false prophet. He makes Jim Bakker look like a pauper.
