At the time of the cross, Paradise is Abrahams bosom. Place where the OT Saints were. It was accross from hell fire. Jesus went down, into the heart of the earth (His Soul/Spirit). And Jesus was without sin, so sin couldn't hold Him in the Grave & Jesus raised from the dead victorious over death & the grave. In the process, so did the Saints in Abrahams bosom, their soul/spirits raised up & ascended to the 3rd heaven. They are still waiting until the day they put on a new everlasting body too, like Jesus body also raised up. When Jesus raised from the dead, He was a new temple; Body, Soul & Spirit. His new body was everlasting. So we also will raise up like the Old Saints when we die & wait for resurrection day complet when we will have our new everlasting bodies, like Jesus.
So? Paradise (Abrahams Bosom) is in the 3rd Heaven now. Since Jesus raised from the dead & ascended.
My Pastor at http://www.riveroflifefellowship.org preached on this a while back a few times.

Yes.
“The heaven(s)” may apply to the full range of earth’s atmosphere in which dew and frost form (Ge 27:28; Job 38:29), the birds fly ,the winds blow (Ps 78:26), lightning flashes (Lu 17:24), and the clouds float and drop their rain, snow, or hailstones . “The sky” is sometimes meant, that is, the apparent or visual dome or vault arching over the earth.—Mt 16:1-3; Ac 1:10, 11.
This atmospheric region corresponds generally to the “expanse [Heb., ra‧qi′a‛]” formed during the second creative period, described at Genesis 1:6-8. It is evidently to this ‘heaven’ that Genesis 2:4; Exodus 20:11; 31:17 refer in speaking of the creation of “the heavens and the earth.”
A beautiful park, or a parklike garden. The Greek word pa‧ra′dei‧sos occurs three times in the Christian Greek Scriptures. (Lu 23:43; 2Co 12:4; Re 2:7) Greek writers as far back as Xenophon (c. 431-352Â B.C.E.) used the word (pairidaeza), and Pollux attributed it to Persian sources. (Cyropaedia, I, iii, 14; Anabasis, I, ii, 7; Onomasticon, IX, 13) Some lexicographers would derive the Hebrew word par‧des′ (meaning, basically, a park) from the same source. But since Solomon (of the 11th century B.C.E.) used par‧des′ in his writings, whereas existing Persian writings go back only to about the sixth century B.C.E., such derivation of the Hebrew term is only conjectural. (Ec 2:5; Ca 4:13) The remaining use of par‧des′ is at Nehemiah 2:8, where reference is made to a royal wooded park of Persian King Artaxerxes Longimanus, in the fifth century B.C.E
The three terms (Hebrew par‧des′, Persian pairidaeza, and Greek pa‧ra′dei‧sos), however, all convey the basic idea of a beautiful park or parklike garden. The first such park was that made by man’s Creator, Jehovah God, in Eden. (Ge 2:8, 9, 15) It is called a gan, or “garden,” in Hebrew but was obviously parklike in size and nature. The Greek Septuagint appropriately uses the term pa‧ra′dei‧sos with reference to that garden. Because of sin, Adam lost his right to live in that paradise and his opportunity to gain the right to everlasting life, which right was represented in the fruit of a divinely designated tree in the center of the garden. The garden of Eden may have been enclosed in some way, since it was necessary to place angelic guards only at the east side thereof to prevent human entrance.—Ge 3:22-24.

Yes, paradise and heaven are two different places.
This passage and both references to the ascension were all written by Luke. Luke was very careful with his words. Jesus did not ascend to heaven on Good Friday. The ascension was not until forty days after the resurrection (the first Easter).
This is some, by no means all, of the biblical support for the Catholic idea of purgatory.
OK Protestants, go ahead with the thumbs-down.

Jesus was speaking of a Paradise on earth. This thief will be given an opportunity to receive that new life that Jesus has promised. Their will be a Resurrection of the just and the unjust. The dead have their sins wiped clean. The wages of sin is death. Is that the end? No! Thanks to Jesus the whole world has a second chance.

Paradise refers to "home" - our native spirit existence. It's a wonderful place and indescribable, it seems - it's where we come from and where we go in the end. It's paradise, heaven and home.
When they refer to hell, they are talking about a state of mind more so than a physical place.
Peace!

Yes Paradise is the highest level of Heaven.
God's Prophets, Martyrs who died fighting for the cause of God and the scholars who taught true knowledge about God and His religion will be living in Paradise.

Yes, their Different.
Earth is a Copy
(not exact and not as Spiritual Either)
of Planet Heaven.
(Where The Father has HIS Throne for Now)
Paradise used to be in the Center of the Earth next to Hell.
This is where GOD Almighty Kept HIS Kids BEFORE Jesus Died on the Cross. They (Moses, so on) were Saved or "Kept" in Paradise.
They didn't Enter into Hell because they were Believers of GOD Almighty.
BUT they couldn't go up to Planet Heaven Either!!! Why? Too Much Power Flowing up there (Power of GOD Almighty).
See, befor you can go to Heaven YOU (A Spirit) has to be RECREATED.
Adam messed up ALL of our Spirits when Adam Committed "High Treason".
The Old Testament Children of GOD had to Wait in Paradise UNTILL Jesus Died on The Cross.
This put into Effect "The New Testament" (Contract between GOD and Mankind)
and in the New Testament, you get Born-Again (Spirit Recreated, Saved) when you Ask Jesus to Save You (come into your Heart (Spirit) and Save (Recreate) me).
Jesus decended into Paradise and Hell, when Jesus was in Paradise Jesus Preached to them The Word of GOD and they All Got Born-Again (The Holy Spirit Recreated their Spirits).
Then, Jesus took the Whole ShaBang up to Planet Heaven (Paradise and GOD's Kids---not Hell, Hell is Still in the Middle of the Earth for Now).
See?
We Are Born-Again by the InCorruptible "Word of GOD".
And Who is "The Word of GOD"?

No. The bible states that Jesus went to prepare a place for us IN heaven. This is the place that all believers will go when our earthly lives come to an end.
