To me it means when you do God's work ahead of yours God will give you such things your heart desires. And He does it with so much love you know it is from God.It works. But you do it not for rewards. You do it because you love Jesus.

You who put God and His will first, follow His teachings as close as possible, and lean on God for understanding, and always put God first in your life, I belive will have the desires of your heart. You must remember this may not conme when you want it -----it will come when God says you're ready. /Also, there are times you will pray fpr something and you will never get it, because God knows isn't good for you. I had this happen and I am so glad that He didn't grant this one request, that I thought was so much love that it had to be right. A few months later I found out just what God in His all seenig mercy had saved me from.

Yes...There is a teaching in Psalms 37, in verse 3 is Trust, in 4 is Delight, in 5 is Commit, 7 is Rest, 8 is Cease, and 9 Wait. Also in 7 is "Fret Not..as in verse 1" This is one of my favorites of the Psalms...not the only one...but one of my Favorites.... "Peace!" "Steps for the Heart" (Then, Proverbs 3;1-10 ) does a body good! :)

Well since the heart can not be the seat of any emotion and is only refereed to that way today because of habit. I would say that this is one of those scriptures that causes me to question the source of the bible. It is said that all scripture is inspired of God and that the holy Spirit has protected it through out time. So, as mans creator why would God suggest that our blood pumping muscle, the heart, has anything to do with an emotion that can only be had in our brain. Our brain is the seat of all emotion. When people have a heart transplant they do not change their emotional reactions to their loved ones or many other things for that matter. So, that is in it self enough evidence that the heart has nothing to do with DESIRE.

Psa 37:4
Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

The Lord will develop the desires of my heart according to his will and purpose.
This will be far greater then any fleshly desires I may have.

Hope that helps†

That's not worded right!

Psalm 37:4 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

What's the condition here?

Delight yourself in the Lord-NOT your desires!

It means exactly what it says. If we delight in the Lord we will want what He wants for us. His will is always done- so if your heart desires His will to be done, you will get your heart's desire.

I totally agree... check this prophet of God...!

Hosea 9:14-16 (NIV) (the prophet is improvising a prayer to the LORD!!!...) Give them, O LORD— what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry. (And God rushes to answer him on the spot!!!) "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious. Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. EVEN IF THEY BEAR CHILDREN, I WILL SLAY THEIR CHERISHED OFFSPRING."

God always answers our prayer even before we open our eyes, if we ask him “according to his will”…!

Jeremiah 16:3-4 (NIV) For this is what the LORD says about the sons and daughters* (*babies) born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers: "They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like refuse lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth."

May God’s LOVING sadistic pleasure endure for ever and ever…! and all of God’s people say, “AMEN!!! and AMEN!!!” Any Christian of a sadistic orientation will find a real Paradise in Heaven. The rest will just rejoice in the LORD… whatever they think that is!

When you delight yourself in the Lord, you like what He likes and want what He wants. So if you dedicate yourself to Him, what HE wants will be what you want , your heart's desires. Faithfullness to Him will be rewarded. You will get your heart's desires if they are pure and of the Lord.
