In Dr. Peter Gott's column in the paper today, a reader wrote in to say that a doctotor told her friend, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, that women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car because of the heat reaction. It appears the plastic bottle has certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. Heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water, and those toxins have been identified in cancerous breast tissue.
Do you leave your water bottle in the car with the intention of finishng it later? I can tell you that I never will again!

There are always people who contradict everything because of some agenda. I for one am not going to take any chances. I suppose there are people who say that there is no lead in toys from China, too.

Not anymore, my medical doctor (she's holistic) told me to limit drinking bottled water period! She said that you don't know how hot the bottles got in transport. Also, have you ever noticed that the water tastes funny? I noticed if I have an old unopened bottle hidden by my chair and drink it, the water tastes funny. I use bottled water on trips. I buy my water in a store that sells a lot of it so I know it isn't old. My doctor said that toxins leak into the water in time even if it has not been heated.

First off, it is a disgrace that the arena has come to use affordable plastic for packing and storage. There were checks that have concluded that plastic releases petrol- materials that act like estrogens that throw of hormonal endeavor in each male and women. They discovered this with the problems that small pets had been having, except they realized that the plastic water and food dishes have been the source of many issues. The small measurement of the creatures in comparison with humans allowed the results to take position rather more rapidly and to a larger extent than in a bigger child/adult. Re-utilising bottled water containers are a foul concept, for the reason that they're less expensive one-time containers meant to serve a brief-life cause. It is exceptional to get a quantity 7 in a bit of triangle on the bottom of the container. There's an extra designation that i have forgotten. Quantity 7 plastic containers are far more inert and don't break down & switch these elements to the meals it stores. The worst matters about business plastic is that it reacts even more so as to liquids which have a high acidic content material, allowing for extra leaching of undesirable materials into your water or beverage. A further factor I in general see is, whether NEW or RE-USED, having the bottle set within the solar at the same time having fun with the outdoors, exercising or just surroundings in a vehicle's sunlit, excessive-temp atmosphere, as this makes for an even more fast and excessive leaching of petrol-artificial elements into the liquid. I've even been advised by using some particularly professional sources that re-utilizing them as ice packs and emergency water is even a foul proposal, considering that it explanations this leaching also. I re-use these repeatedly as ice packs in my coolers, however have most effective drank the melted water as a very final lodge when I need some water in an uncommon concern. I have tried to inform humans this typically once I see them utilising anything however quantity 7 containers at water filling stations, however it appears that most individuals feel i am goofy or only a persona......I wish to aid, nevertheless it would not come across good no matter how excellent I you need to be about being concerned for their welfare. Now, if i come to a decision to take a look at and inform them, I simply determine they'd a danger to be trained anything essential for his or her family's well being and wellbeing, now it's as much as them to study or provide a damn by means of being a greater told client. I have read that one part per BILLION of a hormonal form substance can purpose a response within the human body. Nonetheless, with food, water and marketed consumables, they're allowed to have up to, i believe, one hundred constituents per MILLION of some thing dangerous in it which is definitely a a lot bigger awareness than needed to impact your bodily services. When you consider that this does not have an impact on, disable or kill you instantly, there is not any difficulty, however over time undesirable signs occur that may not be without difficulty addressed because the supply is overlooked because these substance are entered into our bodies slowly and at very low doses, to not point out the buildup of many specific supplies that will interact with every other for a very disastrous synergistic influence on our well-being. Purchaser pay attention and emerge as well told as to what you might be consuming, drinking and exposing your self and adored ones to, not the whole thing is what it seems to be with all hype and marketing finished in competing for your spending dollars.

I don't blame you for not wanting to take chances!
The story you're talking about, however, has been shown to be an urban legend. You can read the Snopes report here:
http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/petbottles.asp

Snopes is a great resource to find out if a story is actually true or not. Whenever I hear a shocking story about an unnamed "doctor" who supposedly said this or that, I always investigate on my own. Now just look at all these people who are scared to death, based on a rumor that started with a graduate student's un-reviewed, unsubstantiated master's thesis, that was full of misinformation and inaccurate data!

Guilty... I however, freeze my bottled water. It is generally so hot here in Florida that ice melts faster than you can freeze it, so it makes for a nice way to keep your water cooler a little longer! I do have a little lunch box thermal thing that I keep at least two bottles of water in along with some granola bars... One never knows when you will get stuck somewhere, or where U will get stuck! Living in the high deserts of NM taught me this to always carry water! It's my little emergency kit for myself... I won't tell you what else is in it!

I don't worry so much about cancer at this age... perhaps if I were younger or still had children to raise... hummm

I heard about this a few months ago. We're not supposed to reuse plastic bottles either. I have been doing so for years. I quit. I would fill a small one with water from my gal jugs to take with me somewhere. The tap water in my area is undrinkable, we must buy bottled water.
If we quit using and eating all the things THEY say will give us cancer we won't have anything left. We'll die of starvation. What to do, what to do?

This has proven to be an urban legend....and has been published as being FALSE by both the FDA and the AMA

I, for one, am not into contradicting people for the pure sake of doing so, or when it's just my opinion - however I DO say something when another one of those scare tactic forwards sent in email reaches mega proportions and becomes common belief. This information I gave is valid and NOT my opinion...and I believe in being correctly informed - not having immediate REactions to whatever appears true...which is why I always research a topic first.

Yes, I agree. We once had left some food in the car exposed to sunlight. After a few hours when we ate it the whole family, myself, wife, and two children had food poisoning (vomiting and diarrhea. We should never leave food or drink in the car and eat later.
