Friend: How about a picture frame with a picture of the two of you as kids in it? Guys say they aren't sentimental, but I'm positive it would find it's way to his dresser. :o) You could also include a mix cd of songs that have been popular while you were friends: Kids' song, Hanson, Britney Spears, whatever else the two of you have sung along to on the radio. Then get him a movie or Playstation game he's been wanting.

Boyfriend: This one is tough. You could get him a gift certificate to something he is in to with his friends, not necessarily you. (Golf, skiing, a sports store, etc) This would show you are encouraging him to hang out with his friends, you aren't clinging to him. It also shows you are interested in what he's interested in and support him. You could also get him a sweatshirt or something else that is related to his favorite football/basketball/baseball/hockey/etc team.

Good luck!

Could you add a little bit about their interests? What do they like to do and what would they consider really cool?

For your boyfriend, why not something for the two of you to do together. After all you really haven't been together that long (3 months).

Help us out with their interests and I'll come back and edit

I don't know, maybe a personalized object with your and his innitials/names on it for your boyfriend, for instance a silver
bracelet or something under $40 or for his mobile phone a small jewlery toy that type you just hang it on it with a cord
as for your best friend try a little box with luxury chocolate you find on shops with the chocolate coated in real edible gold of 14k, it costs less than $35
Merry Christmas to you,as well

I would say movie tickets for your best friend. A boyfriend who you've "dated off and on", nothing at all. You don't have to get something for him just because he got something for you!
