What would be a good devotional for my girlfriend and I? She brought up the idea to me a couple of weeks ago and I'm thinking of getting us books for Christmas. We're 17 and having been together for 10 months. Does anybody have any good suggestions?

My reasoning for this is thus:
I realised that there was no 'god' when I was 7 years old. I was raised catholic and attended a catholic primary school. It was a tough realisation for a kid but I knew it to be the truth. I discovered the term 'atheist' when I was about 12 or 13, roughly around the same time as we were being taught the scientifically based evolutionary theory in school, but i don't like the term atheist because it means more, 'against god' than 'there is no god', so it implies some sort of association with 'god' or 'gods'.

I think he might be refering to organized christianity (churches). My research has not led me to any conclusions though. Your thoughts.

Think about the millions and millions of people who have been killed over the centuries in the name of religion. So many people in the world think that your religion is wrong and their religion is right and they will kill you for thinking differently. How can that possibly be justified?

I find when communicating with people they tend to not listen to the topic but more about something irrelevent?

ie: I was talking about how stupid my morning was with the fire alarm going off and all the little mishaps that happened becasue of it, and the people who were "listening" start lectureing me on how important fire alarms are. Where did I ever say or indicate that fire alarms aren't important?

why is this a problem

what do freemasons beleive?

Both mormonism and masonry refer to the Melchiezedek priesthood. In the scottish rite of freemasonry the 19th order is called the Grand Pontiff. It's during this ceremony the candidate is annoited with oil and made and procliamed a priest forever in the order of melchiezedek.
Hebrews 5:5 9, however tells us, that Chrsit Glorified not himself to be made high preist but was called of God an high priest after the order of Melchizedek. But masons, mormons and occultists glorify themselves and take on themselves the honour of priesthood that was given to Christ alone

This Christmas I decided to choose a charity and donate the money that I would have otherwise spent on Christmas Presents. I would have been buying for my Mom, Dad, 2 Brothers, Aunt and Uncle. In the past I usually spent about $700, so I think I am going to donate about $500. I'm only 19 and this year I'm not working like I have been in the past. I have money saved up and that is the money I am going to donate. However, my mom seems to think I am "taking the fun out of Christmas" she just said to me that Christmas is about buying presents and she is actually upset/pissed that I am doing this. She told me I enjoy nothing and am very negative about Christmas this year. I went on and on and told her that money isn't what Christmas is about, but she just won't get it through her head.

What do you think? Am I in the wrong? Am I being a downer?

Seriously, I've read repeatedly that a scientific theory is "falsifiable"...that is, it may be tested, and found accurate.

Just how does one go about testing to see whether or not an animal...something simple, say...a worm...will mutate into an arthropod?
Even the simplest mutations, we are told, take millions...even billions...of years. Which is quite convenient, I suppose, since nobody will live long enough to see the outcome of the experiment...
