I was talking to one of my friends that I havent seen in a while and somehow we got into a discussion about the Bible. And he said that it is one of the most historically accurate documents ever written. This kid is far from stupid and I would actually say he is extremely intellegent. I am not an atheist. I try to beleive that there is a God but this just doesn't make any sense in reality. So is there any truth in saying the Bible is historically accurate in any way?

Is this what they think? "Finally the day came.... when the tiny falling raindrops did not hiss away in steam, but stayed... to start filling the crevices and corners of the naked planet." (sounds So scientific!)

from amber. Spores of bacteria were found inside the insect and actually grew . Analysis of the DNA extracted showed it was very much like the DNA found in bacteria growing in bees today. Just as the creation model predicts, bees have always been bees and bacteria have always been bacteria! If evolution is true...why did this happen??

I'm reading a book by Andrew Fiala titled " What would Jesus REALLY Do?" He is a philosopher and ethics professor, for what it's worth.

It's an interesting book that gives the pro's and con's to Christianity.

There is one part that quotes Psalms 146:3, which states "Put not your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help"

I makes me think about the Evangelicals that slept with Bush during the last two elections.

What do you think when you read this verse?

First annual Christmas tree lighting, I took my boy there. I expected Santa on a sleigh, hot chocolate stands and a big Christmas tree. None of that. At least it was snowing and there were singers. When they gave a few speeches saying next year it will be better and lit the (short) tree, my boy turned to me and asked, "Can we go home now?"

What was your last Christmas disappointment?

Why do you people continue to fight? As I have said before in my other questions, we will find out the truth when we die, so why fight about it? Christians believe we go to heaven/ hell, and Atheists believe the conscienceness ends. So for Atheists why dont you just sit back and be humble and let the religious peoples conscienceness just end . And for Christians do the same and think that the Atheists will burn in hell. One of you 2 are right, but the fact is we will find out when we die. Stop the fighting over it. Also religion/ Atheism doesnt affect our normal day to day lives, only on the grand scheme things which really dont affect us, if you really look into it.

Most likely not, since a lot of people here seem to like to do it. I am talking about muslims harshly criticizing their fellow muslims and declaring that they will be going to hell or something like that. Or that their actions are *****, when in fact they might just be makruh or something.
How about we spread more peace by speaking kindly and gently, instead of ranting about how bad the person is?
Anger is wrong too, you know! So getting angry at your fellow muslims and expressing that anger so harshly is definitely not good. It just makes me sad =(
Please, just try to spread good feeling....helpfulness is more readily accepted if offered with a kind word, a heartfelt word.
So i ask of you to please refrain from this harsh criticism of others! Guidance and wisdom dont equal total condemnation.
Thank you =)
Masalam

Luke 1:1-4

1Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How can you mess that up? Explain how some one could thing that look was around, after he said this.

a somewhat popular claim i've heard being passed around by christians is that atheists don't believe in god because they do not want to believe in god. by that same line of logic, is it fair to assume that christians only believe in a god because they want to believe in a god? if that's the case, are things only true if we want to believe they are true, or does truth exist outside of what we want or don't want to believe?
