That's a good point, but they will never stop fighting for three reasons:
1) They have fun doing it
2) It is something that will ALWAYS be a subject of debate
3) Most important, you can't prove yes or no either way (kinda falls into 2)
It's crazy I know but they don't care what they rest of us think.

Religion does effect our daily lives. People are protesting in the streets for simple human rights the rest of us enjoy, but the fundies want some people to be dis-allowed those rights for religious reasons. Get the fundies out of my life and you will have no more problems from me.

Unfortunately, it does affect our daily lives.
As long as there are people trying to include religious dogma in my children's science classes, people trying to deny the rights of others because of their religious beliefs, people holding up scientific progress because of their religious beliefs, people trying to execute a schoolteacher because of what she named a teddy bear, people flying planes into buildings, etc. then religion very much affects my life.
If people were peaceful, open minded, and didn't use their religion as an excuse to promote scientific ignorance, then I'd have no problem with it. However, religion is *not* a peaceful little thing with humble followers who don't hurt anyone but themselves.

It can very much affect our daily lives. If you do not allow it to affect your daily life, then you are likely harmless, but what if you truly believe in the toothfairy to the point you pull out your teeth or someone else's teeth, or crash a plane into a couple of buildings. It does matter very much, because fanatics exist.

And what makes you think either are right? There are many different opinions. The trouble between Christians and Atheists isn't the afterlife but the difference between blind belief and questioning what we are told and providing facts to back up the opposite of what we are told in the so called "bible".

"Also religion/ Atheism doesnt affect our normal day to day lives"
That is one of the most absurd statements I have ever seen on this site.
God is irrelevant. People's beliefs are not.
Our beliefs are the foundation for absolutely every action we take in life. When most of those beliefs are based on lies and ignorance, the entire world is endangered.
Religions rely on faith. Faith is deliberate ignorance. Religions are the most deadly plague humanity has ever been infected with.

I don't like to argue, fuss & fight with believers. I just speak my mind. If I'm perceived to be fighting and bashing believers then, it's just an indication of their mental immaturity.

Look at the Muslim world and you'll see why I'm here.
Fundamentalism sucks... whatever the religion is.
If Christians keep the crap science out of our public schools and stop trying to subvert the government and laws of our country to suit their superstitions, I'll gladly shut up.

don't think of it as fighting so much as pointed typing. it's easy to be billigerent to a little white box on a monitor.
edit: arabman, i suspect you need not worry about ever having an american wife. our women do have certain standards, despite appearances to a troll with sand in his eyes.

>> Christians believe we go to heaven/ hell
If that was all that they believe, I'd be happy to live and let live. But some of them also believe that they can legislate morality based on their beliefs, which is something that I find objectionable.
