She was his mother.....?

She didn't. Its written that way in some gospels but not all. I would doubt that she was there.

The Romans were looking for his followers. Staying with Christ while he hung on the cross would have been a death sentence.

I'm sure she was a safe distance from him, watching none the less.

[edit]
My reference was to Mary Magdalene. I don't know if the Romans would have allowed his mother there or considered her an outlaw as well.

The bond between the Virgin Mary and Jesus was Mother to Son, Son to Mother. Oh but it was even more than that. She raised Jesus and knew that he was God. She knew things about him that were only revealed to others later. But her heart was so good that she couldn't allow him to suffer all alone. She had to do what she could for him, no matter what, without sin. Her mother's heart broke seeing him suffer such an ordeal but she knew that he must. She knew about Jesus and his mission.

Mary was a faithful mother that supported her child in time of trouble, unlike many mothers today that will not support thier child in the womb.

I don't know. She should have invested some time looking for a crowbar to pry his *** outa' there. She would have done future generations a great favor. It would have been one less group of babbling supersitious morons to listen to.
