As religious people claim even if there is a god dont you think all what we know about him comes from human understanding and not directly from him?

I want to get a chip, is that bad? It will be really cool, no more wallet! I can go shopping without even opening my handbag, and if someone kidnap me, i will have a tracker like the dogs and cats, to dont get lost. But the people dont accept that I want one of these things, and i really dont think I'm going to hell bcz of that, tha'ts called technology, not sin. can u give me ur opinion. do u want a chip too?

I really do not get it.

Personally, since I am surrounded by religious discussion on here at least once every day - I can't help feeling this soft nudge of dread that's got to do with the Bible...

My mind tells me "Why would you want to go to hell? Why are you standing up against Christianity when it wouldn't hurt to be in it anyway? Is it really worth the risk of your soul?"

Before my heart kicks in again and I realise that standing up for what I believe in is the most important thing.

It's not the Christianity religion I'm against - it's more likely the Bible (which is foundation of structured Christianity anyway). I just don't see how it's the true words of God when the writers are no more devine or inspired than anyone else in the world.

So my question is - why does the Bible have to put everyone on a guilt trip?

Why does it spread the message of fear among non-Christians instead of the message of love? Why would people want to convert to a religion based on fear (of hell)?

When there's an arranged meeting or party, is it best to be on time? or the so called "fashionably late"?

I am always either on time or early, and my friends are never on time and are normally late.

I don't know which is better?
Because when I go to a party early, I feel bad if the host is still preparing (mind you by early I mean 5-10 minutes).
But I don't want to be late as I feel it might ruin any plans or schedule the host may be trying to stick to.

In Italy a man who killed 4 boy because was driven while was drunk, now has create is own fashion clothes line (he is not in clink, he lives in house arrest). A mother who killed her 2 years old son, now probably will create a fashion baby clothes line! A boy accused to have killed her girlfriend, will write a book (for 50,ooo euro). Italy is shocked: we can't able to stop this mechanism that makes of killers super stars....It happens also in UK? How you face this phenomenon? Sorry for my english!

Wasn't that long ago and there was only one belief and one church, Why do you that have followed those who split off have so much hate in you when you cry out that you are a christian? Why do you try to bring Catholics to anger, or try to make them feel unstudied or less of a christian for not following your idea of what being a christian should be? At what point did you decide that going with a changed bible and self ordaining made you better?

Is it a desire to live beyond life?
Is it a need for an explanation to things that science can not yet explain?
Is it because thats all you've been taught by everyone you trust the most?
Do you genuinely believe the holy books to be true?
Is it something i've not mentioned? If so what?

My son and daughter were born in another country that have conscription. 2 years for girls 3 for boys. Both did their army service (its a democratic country, not some military nutcase country) and my son is still presently completing his. I can honetly say that it makes adults out of them, they learn to go with the flow and respect others. There are no yobs hanging around and pestering (well, not many) no drunken brawls etc. The army rounds off the sharp edges and makes most loud mouthed angry teenagers realise there more to life that me me me. Those that think their children are well brought up with correct values manage better in this 'group environment' anyway as the traits that they have been brought up with only make life easier for them. What do you think? Wouldn't it give this country a boost?

I'll share mine with you as well....

My Father, Mother, my 2 Brother's & Myself going to Midnight Mass (in Latin), seeing our father's side of the family there.

Coming home then the family would sit-up around our Christmas tree (prob. when I was a young teenager) Enjoying some hot chocolate w/marshmellows in our cups. Having each other pick out one present for us to open before we head off to bed. Had a dog who opened his own gifts as well.

Sitting in a circle in our 70's style livingroom listening to Elvis Christmas Album (on vinal). Opening our 1 Christmas Eve present (after midnight though). Then getting curlled up in bed dreaming of the day to come.

a couple of scenarios of people ive heard of from gossip my younger brother brings home from his school. it has led to my curiosity:

if a goy child was adopted by orthodox jewish parents, and raised him jewish - for all his life, but hasnt had a bat mitvah. and he has practiced judaism and knows nothing else, is he jewish or not?

if goy parents adopt an orthodox jewish child, would they be allowed to raise it jewish. ie teach him judaism, allow him brit millah and bar mitzvah and teach him to keep kosher without being converts themselves but practising judaism? if they wanted to convert, would it be allowed?

and finally a jewish child who was adopted by goy parents, but this time the child didnt know of his jewish roots until she is older. say over the age of 21+, she knows nothing about judaism apart from basics. she wants to learn more about her culture and to learn hebrew and become a "proper" jew. how would she go about this? Could she ever learn now she is older?

I heard that a person is supposed to choose a baptism and confirmation name according to the saint(s) that one feel "close" to. Mine was chosen by my mom because that's the name of one of my relative and i didn't think of it again because since i was a kid until few years after my confirmation i wasn't interested in the faith and didn't practice it. I felt that it was more of an obligation to my family.

Now that i'm a practicing Catholic, i start to question her decision, as i feel that there are other saints that i feel i can relate more to.

My baptism name is Monica Roberta, and my confirmation name is Theresia (or Theresa in common English)
