Religion is organized and structured. Religions tend to be based on belief, but not necessarily. Judaism, for instance, is cultural and ethical, based more on principles than belief, and many Jewish people tend to be relatively agnostic.

Also, in my observation, people generally don't choose a religion based on what they already believe. Sometimes they do, but more often their religious leaders tell them what they should believe. Fundamentalist Christians, for example, all tend to have certain political beliefs, even though this political attitude has nothing to do with Christianity and even seems to completely disagree with the views of Jesus.

Also one must make the distinction between 'belief' and 'faith'. Often (again, just my observation) 'beliefs' are really just church doctrines that people go along with. They might not even understand them but they believe them. Faith is more real, something a person either has or doesn't have. Many people have faith but actually believe very little. They may not even be religious. And many religious people have no faith, though they may subscribe to all the 'official' beliefs.

Religion with all its procedures and rituals are found externally. For they are all man-made according to various cultures, their intellectual and emotional aptitude at that time. For example: Eastern religions like Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism were already investigating into the intricacies of the mind and its workings in its infant age... While the Egyptians were deep into sciences of engineering and all...

In that... Religion was (still is ) created as a way to control the masses by classes of Elites in any of those cultures ( Brahmins, Erudite Scholars, Priests/Royal Bloodline etc ) to maintain their exclusivity and repress the rest

Belief on the other hand comes from within ones heart, mind and spirit. No one can force you to belief in something until you discover it through Experience and Empathy. Once discovered, it is only up to the self to nurture it and uncover even more amazement or be shocked into truth that its a fallacy.... Belief in the strictest sense I will say needs Faith and Trust to see it thru before judging its veracity

Religion is Man made , Man finding God , it's usually a hardened set of rules , it doesn't change a person , it's Religious , etc ... Belief is more personal , though may also have or has a set of rules , it changes a person , it's God finding Man , it's Spiritual

Note - God is not Religious , God is Spiritual and there is no such thing as the right Religion but the right View and/or Belief

I believe that Christianity has the answers , I believe that Christianity is God finding Humanity

,Religion is a guide towards attaining a goal
Religions are too many but the goal is the same.
The goal is to perceive the presence of all-pervading God,the
highest achievement all human beings To strive for this realisation is what our religions guide us to do.
Theists or Atheists end up with some sort of belief.,
Existence or negation. If you accept the existence only,
you think of the opposite - negation.
Belief is then certain.

Moreover, I don't understand why do you combine religion and belief and ask for the difference. You have to ask whether
we believe in religion. That should be proper. Otherwise
your question has no meaning.in itself

Religion is a set of practices formed on a belief. This belief is normally based on a God.

So if 'belief' is like the foundation to the building 'religion'. While most of the people recognize the foundation on which the building is built, some people ignore the foundation but still live in the building. For ex., me.. I don't believe in the God on which my religion has been based on. But I like my religion because of the practices and the rich culture associated with it.

Religios is generally construed to mean some form of organized worship to some singular or multiple dieties. It is usually set forth in written form but can also he handed down by spoken word - subject to interpretation and alteration from teller to listener and reteller.

Believe is acceptance of what is presented without confirmation of factual evidence supported by multiple tests or proofs or independant sources. For religions these criterior do not exist. there is only one "Bible" or basic document and not other supporting text, facts or sceintific evidence is or can be presented to support that "Belief"
People believe in the religious based on the faith that they are not being lied to and all that poppycock is real.
The beliefe in a religion comes through indoctrination at an early age and the hope that each brainwashed child will not question the "Teachings". There is nothing that wants to perpetuate itself more than religion.

Someone has a horrible shock coming.

Religion is codification of certain ethical, moral, spiritual concepts in the name of God. Belief is the adherence of men to those particular codes. Religion is man made and as all man made concepts it is not free from errors. The belief of the adherents may suffer from the same flaws that the Religion may contain. It would be beneficial for man to keep seeking knowledge of truth outside Religion because Religion tends to tie up a person within the parameters of the Religious codes. But true knowledge or self realization is a concept that goes beyond mere Religion.

Religion is the path to find the essence of oneself it is the point where there are no distinctions religion is not a tradition there is no place for any faith in religion .The person who has known the religion has no beliefs he has become one with the ultimate.
Traditions need beliefs, a group, and all the mess which we see.All the groups we see fighting are for their beliefs that theirs is the supreme.
A religious person has gone beyond all diversities he sees unity everywhere

Cool avatar! Religion is a collection of rules for governing your life. Beliefs are things that people put their trust in and surrender their soulful alliance to. Religious people trust in their 'good works' to be right before God. People who 'believe in God put their trust in His Word and works for their acceptance from God. You can know the laws and become oppressed by trying to keep them all or you can know the 'Lawmaker', and recieve His grace, peace, and rest, from struggling to overcome your own shortcomings, as you believe He already paid the price for your righteousness. Oh yeah, I left out the fact that none of the other guys who 'founded' the other religions and or beliefs are still alive and able to helpfully guide their followers on their personal journey of 'faith', none that is....except Jesus.

Religion is just a set of beliefs people believe and if more people believe these same beliefs the better the religion is. Strange isn't it? Anyway that's what I see. Enlightenment is not that so I hang out with the *horns* {few} while the religious hang out with the *hairs* {many}.
