I'm planning on purchasing a new version of the bible, I was reading through the King James version and some of it is hard to understand and translate into contemporary english.

What I would like to know is, what is the difference between NIV and NLT? I read excerpts from both, and they seem mostly the same. Can you guys please recommend one or the other and please let me know your opinion on why you prefer that version.

Thank you!

Just wondering, how do people normally pronounce
"it is"
I tend to pronounce it as "eaD is", like the T is not aspired.
So sort of like read it like "itis"

Same as:
"what if"
"that is"
the "t" at the end is silent for me.

Is that how other people usually pronounce it too?
Appreciated if native speakers can help me with it.

what i mean that this universe has infinit life time and Hindu is the oldest religion still we have the record from Satyug only .

we know about the Lord Sri Rama and the Lord Sri Krishna as the Human God . do we have any scripture which tells us about the God incarnation like Lord Rama and Lord Krishna before the last cycle of Satyug, dwapar, treyta kaliyug

My main concern is that before Satyug there might be Kaliyug and we can know the Dharma for Kaliyug. please share your knowledge

prolifers - can you explain to me prolifers who support the death penalty? usually one is indicative of the other. isn't all life precious? or is it only the life you see fit to allow to live?

prochoicers - can you explain to me prochoicers who feel who are against cruelty to animals? usually one is indicative of the other as well. understandably, you don't feel the life inside a woman is a human, but is it not still a life? i'm amazed at the lengths some people will go to save a cow from becoming a hamburger, but not show the same respect to a fetus.

Sorry to not pose a question but I'm referring to a question asked by "the silent pen" tempting Christians to go to their main street and shout that they want to tell everyone about Jesus. I did not take you up on the offer to openly blare out about Jesus. Instead I worked through my actions, I was positive when conversing in the shopping mall and I received positivity back. I even had a person give me a tiny drawing of a smily face as a token of their good will. So, I failed your test. But I helped make several people happy, hopefully this has made you happy too.

If we puny humans are too frail and limited in our capicity to comprehend "God" then why would this inconcievably incomprehensible being hold us to account??

Though God is good and God is perfect, everything he creates defies him. Though loved sometimes by those who hate him, and hated sometimes by those who love him, as long as we live we will never be free from changing our minds, our hearts, and our lives.

It is in human nature to put ones trust in divinity being afraid of death and wanting eternal happiness after death.

That is why people believe in religions so that they can feel secured before they die.

Christians don't think for a second that other religions got any less faith or believe in their gods authenticity any less than yours.

My question is whether you Christians actually believe in your religion because of the spiritual sensations from God or is it because of what you have read in the Bible and what you have been exposed to?

If you were to read a book called the Uilible with Gresus as the saviour with very different commandments and principles to follow such as "you shall not pray to me more than once per day or you will not go to heaven" then I bet you Christians would be having no less faith in that then what you have for your Bible and Jesus.

Therefore I say your faith is blind and delusional as whatever fairytale claimed as real could convince you.

This is a bit of trivia for you. Do you know what scripture this is?

For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.

And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.

Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.

"...anything that doesnt acknowledge God as its savior and Jesus Christ is a revolt against God..."[sic]

Are school buses a revolt against god? How about Kraft Singles? Those little ends on shoelaces called aglets?

it seems to me that many christians in this forum are coming around to accepting the theory of evolution as the best explanation for how man and other life forms got here. this became apparent to me over the last few questions i asked. if you're a christian and you still think evolution is a lie, i'm curious to know what branch of christianity you follow.

Everything in life can be contradicted, and when I mean everything I mean EVERYTHING !!! So why do we believe there is logic to our everyday life, values, ideas, creation, etc...
After-all gold is just a rock, the bible just a book, and man just a program.
